IMO this current Blazer team "cake" is done baking and tastes okay but some new ingredients could make it much better. I think a few trades are warranted and from what we have heard some good players that could improve us are available. G Wallace and Hinrich or Felton come to mind immediately, there is likely a lot more out there as well. I'd like to see some f'n defense get played, is that askin too much? Nate needs a kick in the azz as well.
Good management realizes when a team is stalled out and needs improvement. Denver and the Cavs both realized it and made trades that took them to the next level. The problem now is that we might have sat out too long to snag a good PG that would have the biggest impact on helping us. On the bright side, there's a ton of SFs out there that are clearly superior to our current rotation.
I dont understand why the hell everyone complains so much about our current team, demanding trades and blaming just about everything. HOLY SHIT, they are the youngest team in the league minus Lafrentz. CALM THE FUCK DOWN!!
I know! Everyone after a loss acts like that one game was actually 82! Blazer fans are insane... People need to relax.
you calm down, over 1/4 of the season is done, we're okay but have some glaring weaknesses and have the pieces to seriously upgrade our roster and "consolidate" in the process. With RAEF's expiring and many non core pieces available, and some good players on the block, this is the time to make a move now or before the deadline. Wise up
The only player out there I see that's viable is G Wallace. Felton is a terrible PG who can't shoot for his life, yet he keeps launching shots anyways. Why do you think they drafted another PG to replace him? Martell is a much better fit at the 3 than Wallace though, IMO. I think he's the answer when he comes back healthy. The truth is we are loaded at every single position. If I was Pritchard, I would just let Lafrentz expire and use the money to address the shitstorm that is coming when our core guys' rookie contracts expire in a year or two. This way we maintain our depth. There's no need to make adjustments when we aren't quite sure what we have yet. I'd consider Lafrentz/Frye/Outlaw for Wallace and change/draft picks, but really, what's the point? Martell's shooting fits the system better. Between Roy/LMA/oden/Przy/Blake/Webs/Rudy/Sergio and Bayless, that's already an 8 or 9 man rotation in the future. There's just no room whatsoever, as I consider these guys pretty much off limits. Edit: Oh I forgot Outlaw too. Lol, no room
I think we have seen that we are a team that lives and dies by the outside shot and plays poor D. Wallace balances our roster with another guy who can slash and play D - how obvioud does it need to be? and we still have plenty of outside shooters.
It takes several years to bake an NBA cake, and ours has only been in the oven a month or 2. BAKE IT!
It does? I thought that this team was unique in NBA history, according to you. How do you know how long it takes a cake to bake, since there is no precedent? There are no modern NBA examples of teams not making trades and then waiting YEARS for the team to improve. I guess once you've gone off the deep end of considering a team singular, you can just pile new rules and qualifications on top of that. Ed O.
I'd say it's because of Raef's contract, and the fact that management is going to have to make some decisions either this season or this off-season that will definitely shape the future. It also seem that we're stacked at two different positions with players of decent quality, but as fans people want better than decent.
And we could just accept that the product we're paying money for isn't as good as it could be. We could be rightly upset that our team plays like crap from time to time, and it's b/c of effort rather than "inexperience". Who are you to tell me the product I'm paying for is bad, but I can't make observations about why?
NO...what this cake needs is icing and sprinkles lol TRADES TRADES TRADES TRADES FOR A 3rd SCORING OPTION AND A BACKUP PF OUR NEW PG will have to wait till summer...blake is good enough to egt us into a top 8 spot
Just because nothing has happened doesn't mean that KP is sitting on his hands. I'm sure he is in fairly constant communication with others teams and is using metrics to determine which players to target. The trade deadline is still two months away. If we don't do anything and miss the playoffs, maybe he deserves criticism, but who knows his plan. He shouldn't reveal his cards. Maybe he has a grand scheme for the off-season to acquire new talent, or something for 2010 that we have no idea about. Everyone wants instant gratification. I'll be happy when we are the new Spurs.
Perimeter defense is a problem. Attacking the basket is a problem. Getting easy baskets is a problem. This cake needs some different ingredients period. I laugh at all the people who say let it bake. How fuckin long should we let it bake? We already know several things about this roster that need to be changed. 1. Travis Outlaw sucks. He is a horrible defender, and hurts the offense every time he's in the game. 2. Channing Frye and Ike Diogu are not the answer at back up PF. 3. Blake is having a great year, but really he's more Steve Kerr than we need. We need a veteran PG who can and will attack the rim and play defense. (Devin Harris....sorry Eric, I couldn't resist) 4. Both Bayless and Batum (seem) to be the type of players that would work well for us, but both are too inexperienced to help right now. Adding veteran a PG and SF would be great for this team. Ones who mimic Bayless and Batum so those two can learn from that. Teach Bayless what it's like to get others involved, and teach Batum the tricks of the trade on defense. As for Sergio... I like him a lot, but he's not the long term answer in this system.
