Just wanted to shake things up with a trade idea...I proposed a 3 way trade involving Chicago, Minnesota & Washington... CHICAGO Trades: Kirk Hinrich Tyrus Thomas Thabo Sefolosha Gets: Andray Blatche Ryan Gomes Craig Smith Calvin Booth (1mil exp contract) Jason Collins (6.2mil exp contract) 1nd round pick from Minnesota (Boston's) _____________________________________________________ WASHINGTON Trades: Caron Butler Andray Blatche Gets: Mike Miller Corey Brewer Thabo Sefolosha 1st Round pick from Minnesota (Utah's) 2nd Round pick from Minnesota (Miami's) ______________________________________________________ MINNESOTA Trades: Mike Miller Jason Collins Ryan Gomes Corey Brewer Craig Smith Calvin Booth (2) 1st Round picks (Utah's and Boston's) (1) 2nd Round pick (Miami's) Gets: Caron Butler Kirk Hinrich Tyrus Thomas http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=4896065 _________________________________________________________________ what it means to Chicago: An ample amount of cap space to work with, making them able to resign Gordon. A blue collar player in Gomes who helps out in many ways. Young bigs...Smith provides interior toughness with an ability to score and Blatche has great upside. Getting rid of Hinrich will rid them of the 4 years left on his contract (and the play of Rose...removes all doubt that he will have to understudy...lol) and with the arrival of Smith and Blatche...Tyrus is expendable What it means to Washington: Gets great value back in Butler with two draft picks & Miller providing scoring which they can let go to free up 9mil for the free agent class of 2010. With Butler leaving they get two good players with upside to play SF, with Brewer being a potential defensive stopper. What it means to Minnesota: Minnesota will have caproom...but let's face it...for what? Thier best chance of building around Al Jefferson is through trades, since I don't see many top free agents knocking down thier door to sign with them...lol. Minnesota has an abundance of picks to move around (potential four 1st Rounders this year, and two 2nd Rounders). Not to mention desirable contracts with Booth and Collins worth about 7.5mil off the books this season. And Miller is a very servicable player who drops another 9mil off the books in time for the 2010 free-agent class. ________________________________________________ Alrighty...I'm ready for the backlash....lol. What are everybody's thoughts? I'm looking forward to a nice discussion.
No backlash. I don't see Paxson trading away 3 guys he drafted for cap space, a late 1st round pick (effectively a 2nd round pick even), and a guy (smith) he probably doesn't see as being that much better than Noah. He might consider Hinrich for Collins and Smith.
Hmm... I don't hate it, but I think (gulp) Tyrus might be starting to come around. I'd love to trade Hinrich, but I have a real fear that John Paxson won't.
I kinda like the deal you proposed. Minnesota has a logjam at PF and needs a PG. But I did think that Blatche was starting to really come around now that he's getting minutes to prove himself. And Gomes seemed like the perfect fit in Chicago...being that he's an energy guy that brings chemistry to the team and enjoyes doing the lil things on the floor. What if Minnesota adds thier other 2nd Round pick to Chicago? Would that help? And I thought the 7.5mil in capspace was very appealing to Chicago who would need it to resign Gordon.....cuz I just don't see anyone willing to take Hughes contract off the Bulls hands. And like MikeDC said, it looks like Tyrus might be coming around...but that might be the time to trade him since it raised his value up enough to get something of value in return.
im not sure why washington trades its best player and best prospect for mike miller and a late #1..... chicago and minny jump all over that though.
well, Brewer and Sef aren't exactly scraps....but what if Minnesota added maybe Telfair....or changed that Utah pick to Miami's pick (which should be a fringe lottery pick)?
unless the bulls end up with caron butler, it's a non starter. bulls give up way to much value for what they are getting.
not really...Blatche and Smith are what they need...young bigs who can score inside. And trading Hinrich clears up 10-8mil a year over the next 4 years...and with the 7.5 mil in cap space provided by Collins and Booth...allows the Bulls to resign Gordon without tieing thier hands. BTW...why would they have to get Butler? Their not giving up anything or serious value to get back what they would in this trade.... Thier getting young bigs (that give Chicago the inside scoring they need), a solid contributor in Gomes (who can filling in at both PF and SF), 7.5mil in capspace this off-season and a draft pick for..... A player in Hinrich, who is coming off an injury and still has a long contract (lets not forget he'll need to be traded to clear space in the backcourt)...Tyrus who is running out of opportunities to prove he can be a consistent contributor....and Sef, who is a solid player. When you weigh what the Bulls are getting back to what thier giving up....it is pretty fair. I know (at least from you name on here...=)) that your Bulls fan, but don't over value what you have just because it's your team....look at the bigger picture
Hinrich has serious value, Tyrus is a young 22 year old scoring forward who is quite possibly turning the corner as we speak and Thabo is still young with potential. Blatche is every bit as enigmatic as what they already have, so why swap? They already have a young energy, hustle guy in Noah, and they don't need any more first round picks sure to be later than the one they have. Getting Butler condenses three good or potentially good young players into one all-star, which is what Pax has been trying to do for three years. So that's why the bulls wouldn't do that without getting the best player in the deal.
mainly because Washington could get more of what they need (capspace, youth and draft pics) from another team...and Washington would have no interest in Hinrich's & Hughes' contract...without an expiring contract to make the numbers match Washington wouldn't bite. And Hinrich isn't as valueable as you make him out to be...he's an extra PG in thier system who is coming off and injury that might keep him out til the All-Star break and has acontract that pays him around 9-10 million a year for the next 4(!!!) years... many teams are trying to unload salaries for the 2010 free-agent market, not take one on for the long term...I wouldn't consider that "serious" value.....although I'm sure many team will make offers for him...but not as much as you might think. And um....at what point does this yearly teasing of "potential" run out on Tyrus? He's been "on the cusp" for how long now? And sure Noah has energy...but no consistency....Gomes has both. And when are picks not wanted?!? The pick can be packaged with Chicago's current pick to move up...come on...think things out before you just reject the idea...lol
TT is all of 22, he should be a college senior this year. Given what he has shown, IMO it's way too early to give up on him. Plus the bulls style has changed and TT is a better fit for the new style. And Blatche isn't any more proven than TT. And for all is failings, TT doesn't have nearly the police record that Blatche has. And Hughes is an expiring contract in the all important year of 2010. That's why the bulls took him in the first place.
yeah...I'm not giving up on Tyrus...but he seems to lack intensity and drive to get better....and doesn't seem to put in the time and effort to get where he should. Although I see him as being a good player...he seems to fit the mold of a player who will constantly disappoint by never reaching his potential. And although Hughes contract is a good one...he brings baggage with him in the form...that he seriously thinks he's better than he is and deserves more minutes...or he complains and pouts. You keep stating why you don't this is a fair, yet you never come up with any solutions? Maybe something like you keep Tyrus and Blatche goes to Minnesota....there...lol...better?
lol...yeah...that was the comment that prompted my "...at what point does this yearly teasing of "potential" run out on Tyrus? He's been "on the cusp" for how long now?" response....lol
The Bulls have plenty of LT space to sign BG to up to $14M/season, but they'll have a tough time also re-signing Gooden and Gordon using $14M between the two.
Don't look now, but TT is making more shots (his FG% is moving up), getting more rebounds, steals, and blocks in only a few more minutes per game. I'd say he's getting better. It's not like he's a fifth year guy still struggling to pass or dribble out of the same double teams he's been seeing his whole career. But we won't dwell on that. I guess TT should work more on his 3pt shooting...
Don't look now, but in TT's last 6 games he's had 2 DNP CDs, and had games of 3-9 and 3-8 shooting. Since those 2 DNP CD's, the team has 1 win and 3 losses.
You don't actually follow the bulls, do you? Because if you did you know that TT was held out to recover from a concussion. So it wasn't some kind of discipline thing like Noah. Plus he had a 5-8 and 4-8 shooting game. He also had 31 rebounds in those games. 15-33 would be a great game for BG, wouldn't it? And I'd say the 1-3 record has a lot more to do with the guys who start and play 40+ minutes than a guy who is only playing ~28 minutes right now. But we all know we should pin the blame for the record on everybody but the SG, right?
