What world are you living in? Bargiani is a pile of crap, and they will be lucky to get a bag of popcorn for him. Portland: Well who do you want to trade? Toronto: An overweight italian power forward who only like to shoot from the outside, and who is nowhere near as athletic as sold for the draft. Portland: We'll give you two scrubs. Toronto: Deal.
Lol, I'll assume you're joking as the devil wink shows. Man, let me tell you guys something. No one has less belief in Bargnani than I do, but when you watch this kid play every day, you see he can be something special. He's 21 people, not 29. When Toronto played Orlando, he never once backed down from Howard. Where as last year, he would of been killed. He is creating for himself and others. He's starting to attack the basket and play much better defense. Not to mention, he's BC's love child. So I can tell you right now, no way does BC take a scrub and a underachieving PF for Bargnani.
Exactly - it would be a lateral move for both teams. A swap of underachieving PFs. We certainly don't want, or need, Bargnani. He'd have even less of a role here than he does in Toronto. His best position is PF, but he's stuck behind Bosh. So, they force him to play out of position at SF and C. With Oden and Przybilla, he wouldn't get ay PT at center, and once Webster comes back, we don't need him at SF (where he is an absolutely horrible defender). We need rebounding and toughness from our back-up PF and Bargnani gives us neither. He's an absolutely abysmal rebounder. I'd rather bring over Joel Freeland than trade for Bargnani. BNM
The guy had a 15-16 PER last season playing most of his minutes at center (out of position). He's had a bad streak this year but that doesn't mean he is a scrub. He has proven he can be a decent player in this league. Where did you get his 9.5 PER anyways? He has a 10.6 this year playing PF, and a 11.1 PER playing C http://www.82games.com/0809/08POR11.HTM#bypos With him underachieving, that isn't atrocious PER is a screwy stat anyways. Is Sergio really better than Batum? How abou Diogu is he better than Batum? They have higher PER's than him.
Let us not forget, Bargnani had the second most, first place votes, for ROY . . . only behind Brandon (who is a pretty good player). On a serious note, if anyone is going to know if Bargnani fits with the Blazer both skills and culture wise, it is KP. I'm sure he spent countless hours evaluating the 2006 class. I wonder what his thoughts are on Barg . . .
I got his PER from ESPN, and you're right, he was an average player last season, but he's been beyond atrocious this season. Whatever his PER is, my eyes tell me he's been bad Besides, PER's biggest problem is defense, but Frye's not a good defender. I don't see why any other team would value him more than Diogu, who's own status as a former lottery pick hasn't helped him avoid being treated like a scrub.
Diogu is better than Frye. Dear Lord... Frye has been one of the worst players I've seen this season in the NBA. As for Bargnani: he's like a good version of Frye. He'd help this team, but not if we add Lee and not at the expense of anything of significant value. Ed O.
PER doesn't really account for defense. If you don't consider defense, Batum has been pretty poor this year.
While I agree that Butler and Wallace would be phenomenal additions, David Lee would provide a big spark off the bench with his rebounding and ability to score inside. I'd like to think that Diogu could be that kind of player, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
Bargnani is flat-out terrible unless you look through the dinosaur-shape glasses of Chuck Swirsky, then he's Dirk Nowitski. I would not touch Bargnani at all.
