This definitly isn't normal in my book. Most of the time players are only waived one at a time unless roster space is needed. Who did they waive?
How I had understood it to go down was this. The principals in the deal were this Zach was being traded to NY for Lee and Francis. Jack and Joel were being traded to Atlanta for Williams and filler. Atlanta pulled out when they got Law I think????
Yea that is the thing: If they released 2 players to make room, that would imply more than 1 coming back in(maybe up to 3?), or they are just dumping them for salary.
Okay, the Clips just acquired Cheik Samb from the Nugs for a future second and cash. This still leaves them with one roster spot available, I think.
Did one, or both, of the waived Clippers have non-guaranteed contracts? If so, there is nothing unusual about the timing. Donald Sterling is a notorious cheapskate. If not waived by Saturday, all non-guaranteed contracts become guaranteed for the rest of the season. So, this could be a cost cutting measure - or it could signal an upcoming deal - or, perhaps both. BNM
My thoughts exactly. From what I was reading, NY was looking for Portland to sweeten the deal, because they believe Lee is their best player. Secondly, from what I have read, the Knicks are looking for size, and Lee is really sick of playing center out of position.
