Sometimes, a big loss can kill a team. When we were 45-11, on an eleven game win streak, and meeting a Lakers team with the same situation in 2000, we lost and then completely collapsed the rest of the season. This appears to be happening to the Celtics. They had a 19 game win streak and a Christmas rematch with the Lakers. Since losing that game, they have lost to the Golden State Warriors without Crawford, Ellis, or Maggette; the Portland Trail Blazers without Brandon Roy; the frickin KNICKS; and now they're in OVERTIME with the BOBCATS. I smell an implosion.
I love it. Fuck Boston. Even if Boston pulls this one out they still had to go to O.T. with the Bobcats.
Yea, but I have seen other great teams in the past have their losing streaks. Every team has at least one through out the year, at least. I remember when the Bulls came through the west after their breakout start with only a couple of losses, and then promptly dropped like 5 out of their next 7, which was most of their losses for that year.
The loss against the Warriors can be blamed on a huge drop in stress and pressure after the Lakers game, which may have caused the Celtics to relax a bit too much. The Blazers are a good team without Roy. The Knicks can beat ANY team ANY time in ANY arena when their shots are falling. Boston aren't going anywhere.
Bulls never lost 5 of 7 that year, It was more like 3 of 4. And it usually happened in Texas. Against good teams. The Celtics, however, are losing to lotto teams. Don't get me wrong. I actually love the Celtics and would love to see them whup the Lakers in the Finals if that's what it comes to (I'd rather see LeBron beat Kobe, but I'll take what I can get). I'm just calling it like it is. The Celtics are completely collapsing. People thought they might win 72 this season. Well, that's not gonna happen now. Not even close.
Looking at the box score, I see the Celtics have no bench. But why do I get this feeling they will sign a couple of cagey vets coming out of retirement right around playoff time . . .
Uh... that's how every English speaking country in the world other than the US would conjugate that... Ed O.
BTW, anyone see Paul Pierce and DJ Augustine get into a shoving match at the end of the game? Garnett walks up and starts talking smack to Augustine and G. Wallace comes up and shoves Garnett who walks away like his usual coward self.
Ray Allen is over the hill and declining. KG and Pierce are getting long in the tooth. Their bench is vastly overrated. The loss would be so much better if KG was punched, slapped, elbowed, anything of that sort.
