What about career playing time? Oh thats right. One guy has been good enough to get on the court with 2 different teams and get playing time (one of them a pretty good team) and one guy has floated through about 5 teams and not cracked the lineup. There is a reason for that.
false. it's 3 teams, ike did "crack the lineup" in GS and his first year in indiana, and up until the last year or so career playing time was about the same.
Ike's career high in minutes came his rookie year on a 34-48 GS team. In 3 seasons, he played in 158 games. 69 his rookie year, 50 the next, adn a whopping 30 last year. Turiaf didn't play much his rookie season. pretty sure that was due to heart surgery, but I could be remembering wrong. The next two season, he played in 72 and then 78 games, and averaged 15.1 and then 18.7 minutes per game. Turiaf got those minutes on a team that went to the NBA Finals, as their primary big off the bench, and as a solid contributor. Ike's biggest amount of minutes came for a 34-48 franchise, and his PT has gone down every year since. They might have somewhat similar body sizes, but Turiaf is the better player.
the lakers barely used him in the playoffs and he contributed almost nothing to their finals run, and they could have kept him for just 4.25 mil a year but chose not to. he's not that valuable a player, and his actual stats (besides playing time vs. diogu) back that up. neither turiaf nor diogu is going to be a difference maker for this team. my point is turiaf would be a waste of cap space. we can do better.
The tax would have made him an 8.5 a year player, that he is not, which is why they didn't match that sort of offer. Their owner doesn't want to have a huge tax, and they were also looking to extend Bynum. They didn't let him go strictly because they thought he wasn't good.
Then you must have a different idea of what cracking a lineup is. Because when asked about coming here, he was excited because he finally had a chance to crack a lineup. His playing time in GS and Indiana was only when folks got hurt. Then he went to the bench again. Also are you going to tell me that the talent level on the Lakers is the same as GS or Indi? He was playing on a good team and getting PT. You can't say that about Diogu.
exaggeration, and probably more true of turiaf than diogu anyway (mihm, bynum). the overall talent level of the team is irrelevant.
good point, since it's likely we'll also be over the luxury tax limit well before his contract expires.
define banger. blocks shots and commits a lot of fouls, but career rebounds/48 is average or below for a PF and he doesn't post up that much. if you mean relentless interior rebounder like millsap i don't think he qualifies.
No he is no Milsap. But then Milsap is putting up allstar numbers and starting next year will get paid like one.
Why is everybody talking about Turiaf? He's the throw in for this deal. Jamal Crawford . . . no thanks. Gunner who's inconsistant at best. He's a gifted enough athlete to create his own shot, he just doesn't shoot straight all the time. Career .403 is awful to me, and it's not b/c he's played on bad teams and had to force shots. You could argue his percentage would be HIGHER (playing on bad teams) b/c he's playing in meaningless games that are decided by half-time. Plus, most of the bad teams JC was on weren't bad offensively, so it's not like he was being double/triple teamed every night. Just look at his last 5 games, he's 5-26 from deep. He has stretches where he gets hot, but he's too up/down. I'd rather let Raef expire than go there.
crawford expires this year. that would give us some caproom to go after who IMO is KP's guy, kobe. edit:nvm just forget this post
Career .403 is awful, I agree. Our current PG is a career .409 but I am thinking nobody would consider Blake an awful shooter. Since he isn't much of a creater, in fact, that's almost all he is asked to be is a shooter and "caretaker". Crawford also doesn't turn the ball over all that much more than Blake does.
It seems to me the way your talking about Turiaf you haven't watched him much. Just admit it and move on.
