By IBRAHIM BARZAK and AMY TEIBEL Associated Press Writer GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) -- Israeli warplanes rained more than 100 tons of bombs on security sites in Hamas-ruled Gaza Saturday and early Sunday, killing at least 230 people in one of the Mideast conflict's bloodiest assaults in decades. The government said the open-ended campaign was aimed at stopping rocket attacks that have traumatized southern Israel. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/M/ML_ISRAEL_PALESTINIANS?SITE=ALANN&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
Israel has every right to fight back. They don't want war, but the Palestinians don't get it. People are gonna lose their life, but Israel can't stand back.
Its fucking disgusting that a full-fledged nation is treating innocent civilians as callously and cruelly as a terrorist organization.
I disagree, personally I think it's fucking awesome that a nation is finally dealing with them in a similar fashion to the way they deal with everyone else. Honestly, any civilian who actually lives in Gaza at this point is a total moron and sadly, Darwinism kills.
This makes no sense to me. Do you honestly think that targeting Palestinian civilians will hurt these terrorist groups anywhere near as much as their targeting of Israeli civilians has hurt Israel? Those twisted lunatics clearly don't give a shit. You don't solve anything unless you take out the people who are attacking you. Not the hundreds of people who aren't. At the end of the day, Israel is making no effort to not kill those hundreds of completely innocent human beings. Is it fair that Israel has to respond to unprovoked attacks on their civilians by respecting the civilians of the place where they're coming from? Of course not. It makes the task of defending themselves extraordinarily difficult. But they're a full-fledged nation with the support of much of the developed Western world. They should expect and strive to be held to a higher standard than a fucking terrorist organization.
While they are not making it a priority to prevent civilian casualties, it's not like they are targeting civilians as you say. If Israel was targeting civilians and didn't care Gaza wouldn't exist. And honestly, the numbers coming out of news organizations are absolutely ridiculous. Whats the difference between a Hamas militant and a civilian? An AK-47? In my opinion it's pretty awful the way the American media has portrayed this conflict thus far. It's almost as if they feel snubbed because they aren't being allowed into Gaza.
The US isn't going to get involved with every issue that's going on in the world. Just like what's going on in Darfur. This is what my history teacher said: if you have an argument in your home you shouldn't expect your neighbor to come in and take sides. Same situation here. I am very ignorant in politics, but I don't think the US gets involved unless the situation is relevant to our country. Or else there would be way too many issues to deal with. Of course I can be completely wrong.
Don't worry, they are giving Israel more bombs and more money. Israeli support is the United States #1 priority since WWII. How many lives did said rockets ACTUALLY kill? It's simple, Israel does not want peace. Jimmy Carter laid out the foundation for the peace treaties that both the Arab states (Iran is not an Arab state) and Israel agreed to and signed. Israel has yet to act on these treaties. Instead Israel has taken more land, made conditions even worse for the Palestinians, and nuked innocent people. That is why the Jews hate Jimmy Carter. That's why the media says President Carter was a bad president. Read Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid by Jimmy Carter
Jimmy Carter is an incompetent idiot aside from being an anti-Semite. Seen enough of that guy for one lifetime already. Over the course of the past few decades, Israel has tried a wide range of tactics to bring peace and welfare to the Palestinians. At one extreme, they've unilaterally pulled Jews kicking and screaming from their homes in settlements to give the land to the Palestinian authorities. At the other, they use military force to go after the agents of Iran there. The current inaccuracy of the Iranian missiles that are being fired at Israel is irrelevant. With time, money, and practice, they'll get better. And then what? According to the UN, 4,228 Palestinians and 1,024 Israelis have been killed since 2000. 1,024. Read it. If Israel was intent on killing Palestinians, there would be ZERO Palestinians left. The bottom line is that if the Palestinians had accepted the deal worked out by Clinton and had been spending their money on schools and roads and hospitals instead of bullets and bombs, the Palestinians would be so much better off and we wouldn't be having these issues.
Well Israel's obligated to distinguish between civilians and attackers by international law and ensure that any potential civilian damage must be at the very least proportional (and preferrably less than) the damage done to the hostile enemy. They've shown little to no respect for that distinction and that need for justification. Specifically targeting civilians and not bothering to avoid them may not be equivalent, but the end result is the same: innocent people are being killed unnecessarily. Like I said, I know that I'm holding Israel to a higher standard here. But they're status as a democratically developed nation with considerable Western support should warrant that higher standard. Right now, they're acting only a couple steps above terrorist organizations and are flirting with mass murder. 200 innocent people have died in little less than a week. The media and protesters should be making a big deal about this.
So by your logic, you are saying that United States shouldn't get involved in any other country's business right? So explain to me the reason for United States to be butting in Iraq for no reason, still looking for 1 motherfucking bin laden, and yet they do not want to help settle palestine-israel conflict. I mean common, if you are going to go out there and help do other things to make the world better, then you can't completely ignore this major conflict going on right now. Hundreds of people are dying everyday. If it wasn't for United States providing Israel with all the money that they are giving them, Israel wouldn't be shit.
As we shouldn't be. The majority of this country bitches when we thrust ourselves into foreign affairs, so why should we help out now? We've got our own shit on our plate that we need to handle, we can't be worried about the Israelis and the fuck heads they're dealing with. And Umair, if you really think this Israeli/Palestinian conflict is ever going to be resolved, you're the biggest fucking idiot to walk this earth.
