Hendo left for Ireland today. About a 14 hour flight I think Heath said.

From Cali? Yeah, that is a long flight. Almost worth flying to New York, sleeping over, then going to Dublin the next day. He's rich, why the hell not?

and the body would probably adjust better to it.. but then again with all those trips to Japan, he must have a system for adjusting to severe time differences.

Rich and Dana are pretty ignorant when it comes to food. England and Ireland have some really good chefs.

Just a note on Mark "The Hammer" Coleman:

Coleman debuted at UFC 10. Back in those days they had tournaments to crown UFC Champions. Coleman fought three times that night and won all three, pummeling Moti Horenstein (1-6), Gary "Big Daddy" Goodridge (23-19-1), and Don Frye (19-7-1). He competed again at UFC 11, winning that event as well. At UFC 12 he defeated Dan Severn (86-15-7) to become the UFC's first Heavyweight Champion. However, after that he'd lose his next three UFC bouts and was out of the company. In 1999, Coleman went to Japan to compete in PRIDE 6, where he lost to Nobuhiko Takada (2-6-2) by heel hook. In PRIDE Coleman would amass an 8-5 record with wins over Kaz "Ironhead" Fujita (15-7-1) and Igor Vovchanchyn (47-9-1-1). He would also suffer losses to Big Nog, Fedor (twice), and Mirko Cro Cop. Coleman's last fight was in October of 2006 (27 months ago). Coleman has fought only eight times since 2001 and is 44-years old.

I didn't think much of the card for this show when I first saw it but it has grown on me. I'm looking forward to four of the main card fights and to Kampmann's debut at 170.

As soon as I looked at the card, I was liking all 5 of the main events. The main event has me going back and forth for my picks, I'm dying to see if Shogun is back to his Pride LHW GP form.. if he is rashard, Rampage and Machida have to start worrying. I can't wait to see what training with GSP has done for Dennis Kang, Lytle vs Davis will be entertaing for sure and seeing Palhares work shows you how exciting the ground game can be!

Horn/Palhares is now on the main card and Mendes/Schafer has been downgraded to the undercard.

There's still potential for those two to cancel each other out on the ground and wind up having an atrocious striking battle... but we'll see... Jason MacDonald engaged Maia on the ground so maybe Horn will engage Palhares.

Also, now we get to hear Goldy saying "Paul Harris" all night again.

I think this PPV will be talked about for a long time, but for the wrong reasons.

Davis/Lytle was what we expected, mostly. Davis didn't look as technically sound or as light on his feet as we're used to. In the first round he looked spastic. As the fight wore on he got more comfortable, and Lytle got a bit lazy with his striking, which led to a split decision. This fight will eventually be mentioned in the 2009 fight of the year discussions but I doubt it will be a serious contender. Good action throughout.

Belcher/Kang was unusual. I didn't expect Kang to win this fight for whatever reason and my fears were justified. Kang looked much smaller than Belcher and may have exhausted himself trying to go for takedowns so much. His striking was crisp but he didn't have the power to hurt Belcher. No doubt this will lead some to suggest Kang is better suited to welterweight in the UFC. As for Belcher, he is one of the most hot and cold fighters in the UFC. This fight will lead him into a bout with a high quality opponent--possibly Palhares--and we'll have to wait and see if he can bring his A-game again. Kudos to Belcher for winning by submission, I doubt anyone had that as a serious possibility.

Tom Egan wasn't ready for the UFC.

Toquinho had a good bout with Horn but he is very limited on his feet. His take-downs were good but for him to have success in the UFC he needs to develop his striking game. As for Horn, he should be done with the UFC. He has one of the best transition and ground games around but he doesn't have the speed, strength, or killer instinct to hang with the stacked middleweight division. I don't expect to see him in the UFC again.

Mark Coleman looked like shit. Period. He should never fight again. The only thing that saved him for fourteen or so minutes was that Rua has no conditioning. Shogun gassed against Forrest Griffin and you think he would've learned his lesson. Guess not. Most 205-lbs fighters would've finished Coleman off in the first couple of minutes. Rua is nowhere near title contention in the UFC right now and would be hard pressed to beat most of the division's top performers. He needs to consider moving down a weight class if he can't get his conditioning in order.

The main event was great. Decision Dan strikes again! I thought Franklin would win but the judges overseas always have some surprises for us. It is good for The Ultimate Fighter to have Hendo as the coach opposite Bisping. Franklin's infamous "take a knee" advice to Serra should be his last forray into coaching on TUF. Hendo's workmanlike attitude will be a good contrast to the charismatic Bisping. As for Franklin, I don't know where this leaves him.

We didn't get to see the other four fights so I don't know about those.
