it probably wouldnt be enough to get him though. how many people would be pissed after they got those i love rudy shirts lol
You're right in all likelihood it wouldn't be enough, but as far as value goes, that would be a freaking steal. My guess is that Charlotte would have their eyes on Rudy and somebody like Nicolas, Travis or some other wing (Martell if he wasn't all dinged up). So Maybe Travis, Rudy and Raef for GW? That's actually probably semi-close to fair value, though I tend to think LB would not be especially enamored with Travis.
that would be nice. batum/bayless could hold down the backup sg minutes. get it done KP! edit:just tried the trade on ESPN it doesnt work.. edit2:works without raef. i wonder how interested charlotte is in him
Caron Butler give the Blazers the best young/young-prime core I've ever seen in my life. Well, unless you say that any young core that includes Michael Jordan or LeBron James automatically wins. Which I wouldn't disagree with. But Roy, Oden, Aldridge, Butler, Bayless, Batum and Fernandez would be remarkable. Of course, I'd be willing to give up, say, Fernandez (in addition to Outlaw and LaFrentz and take back a bad contract) to get Butler. In which case, subtract out Rudy.
Either one of those players is a huge upgrade over what we have, even if you get Jamison. You of course, would like to avoid the large contracts. The reason being, both of those players are consistent. You can talk shooting percentages, whatever. The facts are those guys know how to get 20+ points a game, every night. Not 20+ one night, and then 5 to 7 the next 3 games. Butler can also be a very good defender, when involved in the game. Right now, the Wizards are packing it up and calling it a season. If on a team with a chance, he would bring it on both ends.
I think we'll see Butler, Jaimison and Dixon heading to Portland; Raef's expiring + Outlaw + Frye + Big Pick Trade-checker = Successful Trade +31 pts a game for Portland! HA! Nice dream anyways.
this guy would do that... I'd also be open to deals for GW involving Joel as the best talent coming from Portland STOMP
Why? I get it that you like Rudy and I like him a lot too but we're talking about the difference between a player who projects as a backup 2 and sixth man vs. a borderline all-star wing, with a penchant for rebounding, garbage points, interior scoring, good perimeter defense and hard-nosed play -- an area in which the Blazers are woefully deficient. I doubt KP would do it, and I doubt if it's even remotely possible, but as far as value goes, Rudy has enough untapped potential to pique the interest of quite a few GMs around the league I would think. At some point the Blazers are going to have to give a little to get a little.
Not often I find myself disagreeing with you, but I think you are flat out wrong here. That deal is a nice steal for us. Fernandez is going to be really good. But which would you rather have--two really good shooting guards or one really shooting guard and one really good small forward? Add in that Bayless can play a lot of quality minutes at SG, and Fernandez is expendable at the right price. I hope something resembling Nikolokolus' idea will eventually happen. Rudy, Outlaw and Raef for either Butler or Wallace.
Because Rudy is not on the table for a roster rationalizing trade (ie, a good player who is a backup for a good player who is a starter improves the rotation, but not the overall talent level). Fact is Rudy and Wallace are both good players. Fact is KP would be taking a big hit to his reputation among agents and players by shipping Rudy to "purgatory" in Charlotte. Rudy won't (and shouldn't) be traded this year except under two circumstances: He wants to be traded, and approves the team. The trade is for a young all-star talent, and thus the PR and deal making reputation hit is worth it. At further issue is that RLEC is not only valuable to other teams, it is valuable to Paul Allen. Giving up that asset will cost him a TOOOOOOONNNNNN of money. In a deal the Bobcats can have EITHER; RLEC and minor talent, OR A good prospect and matching contracts. If they demand both, to heck with them. The deal as proposed (RLEC, Rudy, Frye for Wallace) doesn't work anyway. Bobcats would have to add one of their nasty contracts to match. Yuck. No. Double Yuck. I laid all this out many months ago in my Gerald Wallace thread. My position is completely unchanged. Why should it be?
