Yeah it would be great to have him back, but what happened with LMU? Just not a good fit, health problems? I never heard.

Ah, that's rough. If I recall correctly he had kind of battled some kind of substance addiction in years past (alcohol I think?) but had kind of turned things around as a Blazers assistant ... in any case I hope he's feeling better and it would be nice to have him back.

Notes: Bill Bayno on Friday returned to the Blazers as a player development coach after resigning Jan.12 as head coach at Loyola Marymount. Bayno was an assistant for two seasons under McMillan before leaving last April to take the LMU job. He said he resigned because of health issues. "Nate talked to me about three weeks ago and said once your doctor says it's OK to return, we want you back," Bayno said. Bayno will work out players in practices, but will not sit with on the team's bench during games. ...

Bayno is a great coach. The players have a great relationship with him and have nothing but respect for the guy. He bangs with them in the post and plays one on one with 'em.

I'm thinking he can hold his own a bit against our perimeter guys a little more than Prunty can. Seemed like he was a big loss when he left, but glad to have him back.

I met Bill during my Blazers road trips last season. He's a really great guy. Before every single game, he worked with LaMarcus Aldridge. He would wear these huge arm pads and push on LMA and guard him as tough as he could and LMA would try his moves on him. They worked together about 20 minutes before every game. And then, in the games, LMA hit those shots.

Bill would work up quite a sweat during warmups and then would shower, dress in a suit, and sit behind the bench. Sounds like he won't do the last part anymore. I'm sure he's fine with it. He just loves basketball and likes working with the players. I assume Aldridge liked working with Bill or Bill wouldn't be coming back.

I think this is going to be a big deal for Greg Oden. Bill is a no nonsense workhorse. He is going to bust Oden's ass.

There was an article earlier this year about LMA breaking out of his slump when Nate decided to pull the plug on those arm pad banging warm-ups that Bayno installed. With Bayno back in the fold, how will that play out I wonder?

The problem wasn't the arm pads it was Caleb Canales playing "ole" defense and giving him the creampuff treatment. They switched Prunty on to him and that apparently was rememdied.

Bill Bayno deserves a lot of credit for developing our younger players. He did a lot of work with Travis too which showed. This is a win for the Blazers to get him back on board.

Wait, so now Ole only means something Hispanic? I think Sven and Ole might want to talk to you later today. If they're not too drunk. Or busy having sex with their sister Lena.

    ***

So Sven and Ole are walking home from the tavern late at night and they head down the railroad tracks, and Sven says, "This is the longest flight of stairs I ever climbed in my life."

And Ole says, "Yeah, it's not the stairs that bother me so much, it's these low railings."

"Mama, I have da biggest feet in da third grade. Is dat becoss I'm Norvegian?"
"No, it's because you're NINETEEN." (although I'm sure the same was true of little HCP asking his momma HCP back when he was younger)

    "Hello? Funeral home?"
    "Yes?"
"It's Ole. My wife Lena died."
"Oh. I'm sorry to hear that. We'll send someone right away to pick up the body. Where do you live?"
"At the end of Eucalyptus Drive."
"Can you spell that for me?"
"How 'bout if I drag her over to Oak Street and you pick her up der?"

So Sven and Ole go to the beach, and after a couple hours Sven says, "This ain't no fun. How come the girls aren't friendly to me?"

"Well, I tell you, Sven, maybe if you put a potato in your swim trunks that would help."

---So Sven does, but he comes back to Ole later, and he says, "I tried what you told me with the potato, but it doesn't help."

"No, Sven --- you're supposed to put the potato in the front."

Nah, I just remember Rick Bucher's article in ESPN magazine, talking about how Canales was giving him the kid glove treatment, and the coaches got the feeling he wasn't really being challenged.

    No offense towards Hispanics implied.

Well I wish there was offense towards Hispanics implied! Caleb is as Mexican as you can get, and I don't trust him!
