This is correct. Why are people assuming the deal is for Deng? Jason Quick mentioned that player 1 was someone who had been on Portland's radar (in this case Hinrich), and player 2 was the sweetener. Why in the name of Randolph Childress would Quick deem Deng a mere 'sweetener?' His value hasn't dropped THAT much.

Getting Hinrich hurts Bayless' playing time. Bayless is the future. Also, neither are as good of three point shooters as Outlaw and Outlaw has some serious clutch skills. I say no way on the deal. It makes us different. Not better.

I'm betting Quick is referring to Vince Carter and Dooling. I would be ecstatic over this. Dooling is a tough defender.

It's silly though to think Deng could be had without giving up Bayless or Fernandez. Even then Deng is better now and odds are he'll be better for his career.

The more I think about this, the less likely it seems that the Bulls would trade Deng. Not only has he been playing well of late, who else have the Bulls got besides Rose? Ben Gordon, obviously, but it's looking less and less likely that he's staying. They HAVE to hang on to Deng.

Would Nocioni count as a "sweetener"? Not with his contract! In fact, it would probably be a favor to Chicago to take him off their hands. That said, I like him a lot. He was great for Argentina at the Olympics and he's very tough, which we could use. But I wouldn't want to give up either Travis or Sergio for either of Hinrich or Nocioni. I'd do this trade (which works): RLEC + Ike + Channing for Hinrich and Nocioni, which would effectively be a giant salary dump for Chicago. But it would have to be accompanied by a consolidation trade otherwise we're seriously overstocked.

I think the Vince Carter trade is sounding more likely. (But then I don't think Sergio would be part of it, would he?)

Whatever... at this point I just want to make a deal and unload RLEC.

    I'll pass on Hinrich.

Hopefully Sergio can fool GM's he's worth a darn before the trade deadline. He's been doing a OK job of it recently, but I fear he won't keep it going.

Funny how all the teams are calling for Bayless, isn't it?

That is probably the one thing I really don't want to do. Unless the perfect trade is out there that will help us now and in the future, I really don't want to make a trade just to make a trade. I think we are doing great and only going to get better as we are getting Webs and Blake back and continue to gain experience and grow together as a team.

I think it would be fine to get under the cap this summer and make a trade where we can take back more cap... maybe evne around the draft and get rid of our picks, who knows.

I agree with not making a trade just to make a trade.

I don't think the rumored deal is for Hinrich/Deng anyways. I haven't fully looked into the rumor, but I just don't see Pritchard trading for two guys with lengthy contracts.

It just depends on whether we actually have money to spend this offseason. If not, you make a trade. I would hate to have RLEC go off our books and not profit from it at all.
