Wow, has this program done a complete turnaround from a year ago. Wow, the Ducks are in a tailspin! The question is, can they win 3-4 more pac-10 games by the end of the season? I will be happy if they do. But, I have the feeling that they will miss the NIT tournament, lose in the first round of the pac-10 tournament, but otherwise will be an improved team in the Pac-10.
I doubt they make it into post-season play because of their non-conference record. They would need to be over .500 and I just don't see that happening. They've done a great job though!
Anything is possible, but OSU getting into the NIT would be pretty unlikely, and the NCAA tournament would take a historic run in the second half of their PAC-10 schedule. My guess is they will finish a couple of games below .500, but look out next year when they add some actual, bonafied 3 and 4 star recruits that have already given verbals. That damn Pete Carrill offense is something else, able to make marginal talent into a respectable team when they all buy in to it.
Well, I'll be at the UW game in Seattle, an orange blip surrounded by a sea of purple and stuck behind the Husky band. That'll be an important weekend, but (then again) I guess they all are at this point.
It looks like Burton, Nelson are already commited. We will know if Cunningham and Boyd will sign. http://oregonstate.rivals.com/default.asp?type=4 side note on these players. http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindbeaversbeat/2009/02/a_busy_obama_finds_out_that_co.html
Man, I am getting pretty excited about that recruiting class. We just need a good SF and C, but have some decent talent in Johnson and Hampton for next season down low. I think the Beavers make the NCAA tournament in the next three seasons. Excited!!!
BalancedMan, look how OSU's recruiting class are becoming 4-stars compared to the 2005, 2006, and 2007 seasons (to the exception of Joe Burton). I like how Burton is quick and determined to play for OSU however reading his info through rivals sounds like he had some bad games and needs to be polished at center. I bet OSU coaching staff will improve that when he lands in Corvallis. Check out the Beavers defense against the ducks in this one clip. Hear the noise! http://videos.gazettetimes.com/p/video?id=3007458 Or here is when their streak ended when they beat USC at home. http://videos.gazettetimes.com/p/video?id=2749137
Don't get me wrong, I'm friends and used to live next door to a bunch of the guys. Lots of good memories with Lamar Hurd, Chris Stephens, Kyle Jeffers, Angelo Tsagarakis, Joey McConnell...and oh yeah, the one time I nearly got beat up by Josh and Seth Tarver's dad. If only Lamar could shoot better...he has all the physical tools to make it in the NBA (most athletic on the team by far). But yeah it's good to see them getting some good players as opposed to walk-ons ending up getting minutes. I loved the hiring of Coach Robinson, if for only just the political reasons and the attention that OSU would get. For example, how would a "Recruiting Trip" involving taking a player on a White House tour sound? I wonder what kind of candy Obama likes? Last time I was at the White House the head chef showed me around and I stole some of Clinton's M&Ms.
04-05. The year Angelo redshirted (after his good freshman year) because he had to have surgery on his shoulder
OSU (5-8; 11-13 overall) finds ways to win, knocking of WAZZU at their place 54-52 on V-Day. I wonder if Robinsons 1-3-1 IVY league offense is throwing off a lot of pac-10 teams. On 2/5/09 they only lost to the Wildcats by 3 at Gill and WAZZU in OT a while back. This team should be fairly decent in the Pac-10 next year.
