Theres nobody else on the blazers who has the energy that bayless has. Hes the type of player that gets you excited. He cant shoot for sh!t but man, when the team is a little dead... he brings em to life. I think thats the one thing misssing form this team... a player who gets excited and wants to throw down in the the other teams face. Roy and Aldridge are great but they are very calm out there. You need a guy who brings a fire like bayless. Hes the type of guy you "hate" if hes not on your team. He will become one of those guys that gets under players skins.

As i watched him tonight, im 100% sure.... hes the backup unless we make a deal for a PG. Not that we would trade him but im assuming he would be 3rd on depth chart behind blake. Sergio in 1000 years couldn't do what bayless did tonight. Its not even his scoring...its his attitude. Sergio quite frankly is too passive.

It will be interesting this summer or at the deadline to see how we handle blake if we do trade for a PG. I man, do we trade blake with sergio or do we trade 1 this summer and get a vet? I dont think blake would settle for a backup role behind bayless at this point.

I like having both I don't know about you.

I feel that if we want to get a good enough improvement at PG we're going to have to ship off Bayless.

    I could be wrong.

nah....i dont think we would deal bayless unless we were getting a stud

sergio.....not so much. i dont know if sergio would be anything more of a throw in

blake looks like a filler type player this summer.

    ^Devin Harris is what it'll take.

Btw, MIXUM, you were high on Bayless, then high on Sergio, and now you're back to high on Bayless. If Blake has 30 pts on his return, would you become high on him too?

That's what I'm saying. Everyone around here wants an all-star caliber player. But they're going to expect something in return and Bayless is going to be asked about if we are to inquire an all-star caliber player. I wouldn't mind letting him go as I tend to think fans overvalue their own players. I think Bayless could develop into a good player but probably never be a good PG. I see him at best being a Steve Francis type player. I hope I'm wrong though.

The problem is, who is out there actively shopping young "star" point guards? The only guys I've heard being available are either somewhat mediocre (Mike Conley), or old and on the verge of breaking down (Kidd).

Secondly, you say Bayless might have Steve Francis type potential ... imagine Stevie Franchise in his prime with a willingness to play defense, solid character and a work ethic? Well, I guess that pretty much would make Bayless the antithesis of Francis, who was always known as an arrogant, selfish player who was pretty much only interested in getting his and somebody who ultimately squandered his talents.

I didn't say an All-star type player only meant All-star point guards. An all-star SF would probably cost us just as much. I have seen the willingness to play defense but willingness hasn't made him a good defender. I'm pretty sure Francis had a work ethic to get to all-star level, now their character is much different but hey I don't know either of them so I can't say what goes on through Bayless' head.

i want the PG who is going to guide a championship team to be able to knock down the jumper consistently. bayless needs a lot of work.

I don't think Bayless needs as much work as you think. He's a rookie only recently getting substantial minutes and he was still able to do what tonight? 19 pts 6 assts 2 steals? Off the bench? The guy shot well in college. He'll shoot better for us. Remember that game in summer league against Phoenix? Give him some time to get comfortable and he will be able to "knock down the jumper consistently."

Our rookies are rookies, but damn they each have some high ceilings. I haven't put this together before, but I've noticed that all four of them are remarkably explosive dunkers.

I hope Jerryd's attitude is contagious. I think he could end up being a co-captain someday.

Are you sure? You still taking your meds? I don't know you seem to be wishy-washy on some of your issues lately and its causing me headaches.
I agree that Sergio has his moments with the "Spanish connection" but I have a feeling hes the odd man out and I would like to keep Bayless.

This is hard for me to post but I agree with Mixum for the most part. Bayless has the fire and attitude winning teams need. I wouldn't trade Bayless for anyone except a all star type PG. I don't care what some poster say Bayless is going to be a very good PG in the NBA. Hell he is better then quite a few starting PG's on a few teams already!

Agreed. but that is also easy to say when the majority of our bench would start on 3/4s of the teams in the league.
