At this point, if the clues are correct than compiling all the data the last month still leads me to Washington. Even before Jason Quick said what he commented on last week, the data kept pointing to Washington.

    Summary
    • Washington is the most likely team to trade with Portland based on the clues
      • Eastern Conference team - Jason Quick
      • Impact players at PG & SF - Jason Quick
      • Non-Playoff team - Mike Rice
      • Ages 26-28 - Brian Wheeler
      • Former All-Star - Mike Barrett
    • Gilbert Arenas, PG, age 27, all-star '05-'07
    • Caron Butler, SF, age 28, all-star '07-'08
    • Wizards save $101.38M not including luxury tax
    • Most likely traded are Raef LaFrenz, Travis Outlaw, Jerryd Bayless and Ike Diogu

See the link for how the clues narrowed it down to Washington:

I'll cut my wrists if KP trades for the perpetually injured Agent Zero ... there is no fucking way.

Gilbert I'm gonna drop 50 on Nate because he coached in the Olympics and I'm a little baby Arenas?

    And then you woke up.

Why would the Wizards trade two all-stars for a couple of role players and some cap relief?

I have a raelly hard time believing at this point that the Blazers want to give up Bayless. I know he is one of our best trade values right now, but looking at the things that he has done in his small minutes... his aggressiveness, defensive ability, energy level, and team cohesiveness really seem like they fit with the longer term Blazer profile.

I am obviously not privy to what the uppers are thinking, but if I was to guess who would better fit with us in the next 5 years, I would pick Bayless as a better fit than Butler (who I really enjoy watching).

I find it more likely that we would be looking for a older vet PG to work with Bayless, and that we lose Blake and Rodriguez (sorry marris).

Personally I think a good way to run is with 2 2's, a 3, 4, and 5 and give up on the concept of a pure PG. Given that, the only place I think we need to solidify would be a starting 3, which could be Webster if he can get healthy and stay that way... but more likely if we were going shopping, that is where I would personally look for a big upgrade. Heck, get rid of the 3 and go for 2 4's (ala Bosh).

Roy, Bayless, Bosh (or someone with that kind of post presence) Aldridge, and Oden would be a team I could see doing the dynasty thing for several years. Throw in some solid B teamers like Outlaw, Fernandez, Batum or Webster, Przybilla, and an unknown 1/2 would be pretty solid.

He's posted other things here that didn't have links to his blog. If he's making a contribution to discussion, there's nothing wrong with him linking his blog (considering it's on topic). I wouldn't call it spam.

Wow. Talk about huge upside and huge downside. Very Risky but if agent zero was ever healthy we would be great. But that is a huge if. I would hate to get rid of Bayless

Sure, I'd agree with not trading for Arenas but damn, those were some cold responses.

120 millions dollars is a lot of money to save on a team that has the worst record in the NBA.

Ouch . . . I forgot about Arenas and his 100+ million dollar contract over the next five years.

At the same time why would the Wiz want to traded away their big signing (was it this summer)? Buyer remorse?

nope. would be risking the entire future of the franchise and everything we've built for over the last 3 years.

They aren't giving away Butler just to dump Arenas. If they wanted to dump Arenas, some team would gladly take him without the need to add Butler.
