it's a bit harsh in general, but not at all harsh in terms of his performance vs. the stellar reputation he seems to have among many blazer fans. right now there's no indication he's anything more than a younger soon-to-be-much-more-expensive outlaw with a little bit higher upside. he doen't pass much or play any perimeter defense, turns the ball over a lot etc. aldridge is also a relatively inefficient shooter, can't argue that. but he is better, more efficient player all-around. comparing his rebounding to aldridge also doesn't say much for him being an all-star talent : ) well considering the bad contracts we'd be taking back the trade you proposed is only something someone who is wild about rudy gay would do.
Yeah I really doubt both of them leave Portland (in the same deal at least). Phoenix pretty much has to demand LMA is they're talking Amare with the Blazers, but asking for Bayless is probably a deal killer.
After reading the OP/trade offer, I'm not going to wade through this whole thread. I like Bigs who can defend. Amare doesn't. That LA does play some D and has a nice complimentary offensive game to Roy and Greg, makes the choice to stand pat there pretty easy. They want Bayless too? Next... STOMP
I was only trying to find a "fair trade" and played around with the trade simulator. I wasn't advocating anything at all, was I?
How about a 3 team deal where we land Bosh. This deal can be for Sergio or Bayless I'm assuming they'd want our best PG prospect since we'd be taking their starter. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...4~1977~2806&teams=28~21~28~21~22~22&te=&cash=
That would be pretty ideal. I can't see it going down that way though--only in my dreams. I'm not sure why it couldn't happen though, especially if Portland added more value to the other teams (Sergio, Outlaw, draft picks). I would be willing to offer more, I just don't know if Toronto would take it. If Toronto thinks Bosh is gone soon, then getting Amare for him and Calderon seems reasonable (with maybe some filler, draft pick, Sergio). Phoenix should like Aldridge for Amare (again you could add a little here).
He's going to opt out in order to get a bigger contract. Since no one can offer him a contract as large as Portland can, the overwhelming likelihood is that he'd re-sign in Portland. There's a risk there, but not a very large one, IMO. Pre-requisite to the deal, Pritchard can get permission to talk to Stoudemire. He can't get a legally-binding commitment, of course, but he can at least see if Stoudemire has any reservations about being in Portland or playing for Nate or playing with Oden and Roy. If none of those things are an issue to Stoudemire, I think the risk of Stoudemire bolting (for less money) is pretty tiny.
If Amare can't stomach sharing the ball with a future HOFer in Shaq......how will he respond any time Oden touches the ball? After reading the Aschburner article on SI, I am not real enthusiastic about this idea.
ha! what is their alternative? tyrus thomas? jj hickson? not to mention that raefs deal trumps all of their expirings MIGHTILY. outlaw/bayless/raef is better than what everyone else is offering. and then some. do you dissagree?
I think Hickson will turn out to be a pretty good player (and acquiring Amare would put the Cavs season up in flames, so I hope that deal happens >=D ), and Phoenix would do well to get him and Wally's expiring deal. If Golden State is as active as is being reported, I'd take a package with Monta Ellis and Brandan Wright over Outlaw/Bayless/Raef pretty quickly. No one really knows what GS is offering, but they are reported to be chasing Amare, and they have to give at least one of Ellis or Biedrins. But we don't know what everyone else is offering, and no deal is imminent, so its hard to speculate. Remember, its not a 'have to' thing right now with Phoenix and Amare. If the Suns don't like any trade offers they get before the 19th, they can just hold on to him and try again in the offseason.
wow, sarver wouldnt. he wants to cut costs, not take on 6 years of ellis. that is redonkulous. and if it is hard to speculate, why would you state with certainty that phoenix wouldnt do it without lma? out of any rumored deals with large expirings, outlaw/bayless/raef trumps them all. that is all i was saying. if you like jj hickson more than outlaw and bayless, it would have to be ALOT more, to offset the large difference in raefs savings vs wallys.
