That's the first NY Daily News basketball article I've read that doesn't take it as fact that the Knicks could have any player they want. Last year, I remember a NYDN article that said something like the Knicks might be pondering a Monta Ellis for filler trade if they so wished. I was like "huh?"

Who would the Warriors even want on the NY roster?... I guess David Lee, but I don't see it...

    How about Stephon Marbury?

SJax + CMaggs + Randolph for Marbury works.

Actually, that would be awesome. $20 mils of cap relief next year.

I think I would do that trade in a second. Not only are you getting $20M from Marbury, but you're dumping two other bad contracts as well. All told you'd be freeing up something pretty close to $40M aren't you? That's enough to sign two stars. But NY would never go for it, how would they bid on LeBron in that case? Doing that trade just makes them a worse version of the Warriors.

All true but I wouldn't do it. I'd be willing to wager that the Cavs would take one of our high priced wings off our hands for one of their expiring contracts (Eric Snow/Wally). Maybe we 'd have to expand it and include some more but not anything as valuable as Randolph.

If we're looking at dumping salary to acquire a power forward like Amare or Bosh, I'd try to trade Wright and keep Randolph for small forward a la Rashard Lewis / Lamar Odom / Kevin Durant.

Then we'd have this as a starting lineup:

    pg: Monta Ellis
    sg: Marco Belinelli
    sf: Anthony Randolph
pf: Amare Stoudamire or Chris Bosh
    c: Andris Biedrins

That's a pretty slick lineup if we can land a 20/10 PF.

Defensively, we're still spotty, but we solve the inside scoring issue and Biedrins would still play up top while Amare could play from the elbow or get down on the block. The warriors would have to re-work their system to take advantage of several mid-range marksmen on the team (Amare Stoudamire/Chris Bosh, Monta Ellis, Anthony Randolph (?) ) We'd have to chill on the 3-ball...
