Is there any way we could pry D'Antoni from NY in a few years? Nate is a poor X's and O's coach. Our offense is stale whereas D'Antoni is an X's and O's mastermind. Outside Brandon, has he really developed our youngsters? LaMarcus is a tad better now than when he was a rookie. But it's not a huge leap. Rudy has regressed and doesn't play in a rhythm and just doesn't fit this slow (boring) methodical offense. D'Antoni isn't known for defense but I can't imagine we would be any worse with him. And we could finally rid the team of the STUPID rule of no headbands/armbands/writing on shoes. [/rant]

If McMillan were replaced, I'd love to have Adelman. If he's still Rockets coach, I'd want Flip Saunders.
Which matters only if you blame them for their team's losses in conference finals and Finals. Personally, I don't. I never felt they were out-coached, just up against superior or equal teams and things didn't go their team's way.
Hoping for an under-performing, never-was, retread coach like Adelman is like hoping for Allen Iverson to come in and save the PG position.
I don't think he under-performed, and I think he's very good at getting players to play well together in an offense.
Sure, if we never want to win a title because the team doesn't play defense than yes. Let's get D'antoni.
What young talent has D'Antoni developed? Seems like all he has won with is vets. They sold all their draft picks.
Let's see, you have a two time MVP PG, an ALL NBA first team C, and a 20-10 do-it-all PF. Add that great coach you want, I'm assuming they had to have won at least 2, maybe 3 championship.....wait, what? They only had one?.....No? Not even 1 title? Huh. Great coach like that. With all that talent, I would assume his superior Xs and Os would have gotten them a title. Weird.
The SSOL offense turned Nash into an MVP. In Dallas Nash was a 17/7 player and he's now, again, a 17/7 PG. The SSOL offense rapidly developed Boris Diaw from a fringe NBA player in Atlanta to a do-it-all PF/SF. This offense makes good players into great players. It's fun and puts a TON of pressure on the opposing teams defense. We have players who are capable defenders. Nash, then and now, couldn't guard a chair. Amare is a mediocre defender. Raja Bell was the only player on that roster who was a good defender. Greg has the makings of being a very good defender. Brandon is decent. LaMarcus, though still mediocre, is improving his defense (especially his hands). Nic Batum is a 6'9" Raja Bell. Przybilla is one of the better defensive Centers out there. D'Antoni would be huge for our team. Especially with our roster.
So far he has always won with small ball. How would he be perfect with our roster? People complain now how little Greg gets the ball. Do you really think that would improve sprinting up and down the court?
When Greg is finally 100%, yes, he would improve. It took Amare 2 full seasons to return to form. Greg's pre-draft combine numbers were on par with GUARDS. Greg can get up and down the floor. He played small ball because what was the alternative - start Kurt Thomas? Sean Marks? Pat Burke? Our roster is full of athletes that can run. LaMarcus is one of the fastest players baseline-to-baseline on the team. D'Antoni would be perfect for our roster.
I guess we will have to wait 2-3 years on that as well. Until D'Antoni's offense excels with a true center I will not agree. I am not even sure BRoy would fit into his offense.
