Rudy has a shot at this Slam Dunk contest today? I for one hopes he nails it and wins. Would be huge for him and the Blazers for exposure. I know it will be tough but I'm a little excited to see what he's created for this show! Creativity is the only way he stays in this! That Said..... Kill it RUDY!!!!!
I was just going to post something like this. I was thinking it would be good if it is Howard and Rudy in the slam dunk finals. You know they would show the Rudy dunk on Howard from the olympics.
He has little to no chance of winning it. He's not the slam dunk contest kind of dunker. His dunks are exciting because they're the type that come in the flow of the game and get the fans excited. He doesn't have the sheer athleticsm to compete against a Howard . . . or even Nate. And I say this as a huge Rudy fan. He shouldn't be in this contest. I didn't ever get the sense he was too excited about getting "voted" in.
I think he has a chance. Look at it recently, it's almost more about creativity and gimmicks than it is just throwing down some wicked 360s or something. Donning a cape and throwing the ball into the hoop from two feet away won it last year, so apparently he doesn't even need to dunk to win. But also, the blowing out the candle, etc. I think his creativity could definitely give him a shot. I really want to watch him in it.
I still think Oden should throw the ball up and have Rudy Dunk over him while Rudy wears a Zorro Mask!
Rudy could also shoot a three from like Detroit, and as it goes through the net grab it and dunk it left handed!
It's weird having one of our guys in a premier event like the dunk contest. I'm so used to the NBA leaving all our guys out. I think Rudy will do well, maybe not win it, but he won't embarrass himself. He's got some stuff up his sleeve, and who knows what he's going to do with Pau. He couldn't do any worse than Birdman a few years back..
Greg and Rudy should do a father son skit. Maybe Greg could gray his hair and Rudy could put on some jammies/w feet. Greg could have a father son talk at half court and then all of sudden Rudy darts towards the rim and Greg throws him a lob pass.
Potentially, but you're counting on making the shot along with getting to the basket before the shot hits the floor. A LOT of room for error.
I think you could make that three with high arch from the side and dunk it coming through the net. It also plays to Rudy's back door dunking strength. Sure it would take weeks of practice but I think with the kind of talent these guys have, it's doable!
