Wow i guess if you're a cake baker... this must be depressing news.

Add Portland to the list of teams that are going after the services of Vince Carter.
Sources have told TKB that Portland has been on the phone with roughly nine teams in an attempt to make a trade that will impact the franchise’s playoff hopes.

Finances are a big problem for plenty of teams in the league, but Portland, from what we’ve been told, is positioning themselves to make a big run deep into the playoffs so that they can fill the Rose Garden and collect at the door.

It’s no secret the team has been shopping Raef Lafrentz, and as we’ve said, Travis Outlaw is a key chip that will most definately be in another uniform after Thursday’s deadline.

Maybe those pieces, along with a few more, would entice the equally cost conscious Nets to ship Carter who’s days appear numbered. Kiki Vandeweghe can say that there isn’t a deal on the table for Carter, but at this point you’d have to think that he’ll take the best offer for Carter whose days are numbered. He’s been valued as a complimentary piece to playoff teams like Cleveland and San Antonio already, so trading high makes too much sense as the team will get good contracts and some talent in return.

Add Portland to the mix of those teams interested although they are still very much in the hunt for a point guard.

Since Carter only has two more guaranteed years on his deal, I am now in favor of a deal that would send RLEC/Outlaw to New Jersey. I hate losing Outlaw and his late game offense, but with Carter here, Travis wouldn't be on the court much in the 4th quarter anyhow. If the team can instead move Martell Webster instead of Outlaw in a Carter deal, all the better (but also much more unlikely).

Whether he pulls the trigger or not, it's GREAT that KP is on the phone, exploring options.

I love RLEC+Trout for Vince. Solves all the SF problems.

Vincie aye? I haven't seen him play in awhile. How much gas is left in his tank? I think it would be a good deal if we are unable to get someone younger. We get him without giving up any major pieces, and his contract expires in 2.5 years, when he'll be 33-34.

With Vince Carter on our team, I'm sure we would get past the 2nd round.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Some on this forum have been claiming KP has no desire to make any trades and is off watching college basketball.

Really? We'd beat San Antonio or the Lakers?

In the end I think this team just ends up with Andre Miller.

I don't buy us NOT being one of the teams, as the report says. If NJ did, in fact, offer Vince up for Marion's expiring contract, I imagine they would have also called about Raef and someone like Travis. Unless they really like Marion, and thought they would re-sign him, it would seem they were just looking to dump salary. Raef's contract is the most attractive to a team strictly looking to dump salary.

Exactly. We may be in 4th now, but barring a move that brings us a major playmaker, it's going to be a bit rough down the stretch.

Hasn't the Rose Garden been sold out the last 50 games?

Maybe he doesn't feel a burning desire to make a move, but he'd be an idiot not have his eyes and ears plugged into what everybody else is doing and/or offering.
