Which is why Bayless is better.

my pick butler, but it was not an easy choice because I love wallace on defense. But I think Bulter is the better all around player.

Depends on the price, but I'd be happy with either one.

    Reach:

    Chris Paul: 7'9"
    DJ Augustin: 7' 10.5"

Bayless is clearly the better defender but DJ is better at almost every other aspect of the game.

Of course, Bayless could improve his jumper and decision making turning this into his favor. It all depends on how he develops his PG game. Can he convert from a SG to a PG?

    Easy choice: Caron Butler!

A Roy/Butler combo would be pretty hard to stop. He's this years Pau Gasol, IMO.

    Not at driving and finishing.

Btw, Paul is sort of an anomaly for short PGs. I don't see the comparison between the two.

I had to re-read that part too. The priorities in this league are way beyond fucked up if this is true. Oh well, at least it's too our advantage.

Seems to me the odds are really good we're getting a new starting small forward this week. Thank god. That's been a massive hole on this team since Miles fell apart.

Re: Wallace vs Butler, who should KP get?

I would take Butler and predict we win the division this year and future years. I wouldn't be upset getting Wallace or even RJ for that matter but Butler is the guy that would put us over the top IMO. I really hope we get Butler, Wallace, RJ in that order but I have it a lot closer with Wallace and RJ then many on this forum.

Re: Wallace vs Butler, who should KP get?

Either way I'll be happy. I was actually higher on Butler until I looked at his numbers, particularly 3pt%, which isn't that much better than Wallace's. Butler is a better offensive player, that much is certain. Washington has used him in the clutch like Roy and he has come through multiple times. And he knocks down his free-throws and rebounds well. Wallace gets more blocks and is more in that 3/4 hybrid that TO is...the question is who is a better wing defender on guys like LeBron and Kobe.

But I do think that Caron is probably the best, or at least most polished talent and has a very good contract.

Butler, but Wallace is a close second.

Though I don't think Portland will make the Western Conference finals this year with either player. They would officially be the "Team No One Wants to Play".

Re: Blazers have intensified their focus on Wallace

Butler is 29 though, 2 years older than Wallace, and speaking of injuries, he's missed more games over the last two seasons than Wallace. Wallace didn't play much his first few years in the league, so in theory, he'd have less mileage...but on the other hand, they don't call him Crash for nothing.

Either player would be great though.

Butler is going to cost us much more. Probably giving up Bayless and taking back a huge contract. I still do that deal though.

Re: Wallace vs Butler, who should KP get?

The question is is Caron worth Bayless and G. Wallace? Long term, I think that answer is no. Bayless has shown his potential more than a couple of times. He's a gym rat who plays the game right, with the physical tools to be the PLAYER we need at the 1 long term. We stole him in the draft when he slid.

If we get Wallace or Butler without giving up Oden/Pryz/LMA/Roy/Blake/Rudy/Batum/Bayless....then that's the magic ticket and we won.

Re: Wallace vs Butler, who should KP get?

Butler as well. Funny part is that he makes the least amount of money. Which also means we have to take back another player. So maybe he would cost us more but that more might be "a bad contract".

Re: Wallace vs Butler, who should KP get?

Butler needs the ball in his hands to do well; That negates Roy's strengths. Butler would be a downgrade imo. Too many cooks in the kitchen with that.

That's why I vote Wallace, for the defense that we most desperately need, and the occasional spark when Roy is out or when LMA isn't hitting.
