Especially if we're planning on making a run into the playoffs, we're going to need size to compete with Portland, San Antonio and the Lakers. I'm not sure that would help us.'' I'm gonna say steal of 09' trade deadline.
They scared me before this trade. They have an excellent group of talent and a bad record with picks. They are formidable and will be for some time. And, they aren't afraid of anyone. They seem unusually confident for their collective age.
Chandler has been a lot less productive this season than his previous two. I don't think it puts OKC to the next level, but it's an upgrade. As for the Hornets, they seem content to be a 2nd-tier team due to salary constraints.

thunder will never be elite because they wont be able to attract players or keep players. OKC is the arm pit of the NBA..Durant is bolting when he can.
Chandler strikes me as a player who is a product of the system. I'd like to see just how good he does without CP3 spoon feeding him lobs. I love the fact our backup center is better then him too
Actually, given Tyson's diminished production this year (a result of his injury issues, I think) - I am not surprised to see that both teams are worse this year. OKC has to hope that he returns to his last 2 years production next year - which is iffy if you think that playing next to CP3 was the main reason for his better play...
They have control over Durant, Green, and Westbrook for at least 2 years (Westbrook 3) after this, plus they're all restricted free agents once the rookie deals are over, and at worst they sign the one year tender. If OKC progresses like we all think they will, they'll probably be an upper-seed playoff team before those three are completely free to walk, and I'm not sure that they'll just ditch OKC because its a shithole when the Thunder will be an elite team by then.
Throw in that OKC has a much smaller metro area than any other NBA city outside of Salt Lake, and you have a team that will struggle to be able to pay these young players when their rookie deals expire, and Chandler also expires in two seasons.
The guys (currently) with the most remaining years left on their contract are Westbrook, DJ White, and Kyle Weaver, all with three. Point being, as of right now, OKC has zero long term commitments, and will make zero long term to commitments to players not named Durant, Green, or Westbrook. I'm not saying that OKC's pocket book will be overflowing, but I don't forsee any real trouble paying these guys given the abscene of any long, bad, expensive deals.

Imagine when they draft James Harden or Blake Griffin (and move Durant/Green to the 2/3). That will be a scary combination, because you know they'll have a high lottery pick this year.
Green is a SF/PF, and if they somehow end up with the first overall pick I'm guessing they'd just trade Green and try to get a somewhat veteran 2 guard ... or maybe move Westbrook to the 2 and draft Rubio instead. Whatever happens, if they get Griffin or Rubio they are going to be a fucking handful.
