He knows he's the one negotiating from a position of strength. In a game of chicken, he's going to win. It just comes down to whether other GM's have too much of an ego to not want to get pritch-slapped. If they decide to do what's necessary for their teams financially, we should come out smelling like roses. The fact that article says we're getting better offers for Lafrenz than Phoenix was getting for Amare tells you all you need to know.
Well, I think Charlotte should at least get some talent in return for one of the premiere defensive wings in the league. And there's really no point for Portland to carry Wallace/Webster/Batum (Travis too I guess?) at the 3 heading into next year; the team actually needs to move some people. Lastly, taking on Nazr's contract isn't that big of deal, it's just a MLE salary.
No. The team already knows more than enough about any player they'd want to trade for. There's nothing Wallace can do in a single game to change their mind.
If it isn't a big deal then they don't have to include him. But apparently it is a big deal for both sides. I think "deal breaker" was thrown out there.
In terms of his health after a collapsed lung? I'm not talking about a scouting report here, just a health evaluation.
Team doctors have obviously already given him a "health evaluation" before he was cleared to practice again.
I shouldn't have said "no big deal" because it's certainly not a desirable contract, but KP has taken on far worse to get the player he wants (Trading Ratliff for Raef to get the rights to Brandon for instance). the "big deal-edness" is relative to what we've seen Pritchard do in the past.
btw--how great does that deal where we sent Telfair/Ratliff out for Raef/#7 pick look now? It's possible we could spin Telfair and Ratliff into Roy and either Butler or Wallace.
FWIW, a couple of weeks ago on Courtside Monday Night, Mike Barret said that he knows for a fact the the Bobcats covet Martel.... so we could be trading one injured player for another.... Webster for Wallace.. no need for Wallace to play this week to prove he's healthy.
Exactly! Wallace, Nazr for Raef, Sergio and Outlaw/Webster (I didn't want to trade Outlaw, but since Wallace can play 3 and backup 4 I think he becomes expendable).
maybe KP wants to see wallace in action tonight before pulling the trigger....or if wallace sudenly doesnt play...that spells trade to me
Ouch... unless that means Butler... then Ouch... but it actually may be a good sign? IDK, we will see. I really hope Nazr wasn't the deal breaker.
It's never dead until they cover the fat lady with dirt. OK I just made that up, but the bottom line is it's never dead until another trade with that player is made. or until Friday. Probably just postering.
There's talk of the Cavs trading for Jamison using Wally's expiring contract. If they swing that deal, they will hold onto Butler.
