Jamison is a great fit in Cleveland and they don't give up much to acquire him. He gives the Cavs another scoring frontcourt player, which is exactly what they're missing. In our last matchup with them we shut the Cavs down by forcing Varejao and Big Ben to make open shots when Big Z was on the bench. When Big Z was in the game he was killing us from mid-range and Jamison has similar range (if not slightly better.) In the meantime Jamison would also fill the void by Pavlovic's ankle injury. Not to mention the Cavs will also have Delonte West coming back. The risk for Cleveland is this puts them in a must-win now situation because Jamison's contract runs through the 2010 season. I'm really surprised Cleveland didn't up the ante for Amare.
Cleveland owners don't want to spend money to bring LeBron help. They think they can win with what they've got, now.
you'll are smoking still picking the celtics to come out the east....please explain how the celtics are beating the cavs, when "last year" took them to final minute in a game 7???..........since then Boston loses: Posey and Brown (two key pieces) Cavs add: Mo Williams (huge piece) Boston's depth isn't that great.......if the Cavs get Jamison you'd be a damn fool (considering the fact that Boston's name isn't in any trade rumors and that Jameer Nelson is done for the year) to not pencil them in for the finals....... nah Danny Ferry has been trying to make moves at damn near everything......they might not get a piece, but it won't be for lack of trying......... not so sure about the bench thing especially if Bynum is done for the year......antwan would be coming off the bench.....so you'd have Jamison, Varejo, Gibson, Palvolvic, etc vs. Ariza, Vujacic, Powell, Farmar, etc............
Simply not true. By spending to ensure they keep LeBron, they will actually save money in the long-term because they get to keep LeBron and the attendance will remain high, jersey sales etc etc. Base on the past few years, I think it's safe to say that the owners are more than willing to spend money to bring LeBron help.
T-Wac is not a good player. He is a cancer. U probably dont get to hear about all of his garbage but living in Houston, I see it everyday. He is trash.
Both of those guys made a few important plays late in games last year, but they were not key players. I miss Posey, but he is fucking overrated by people, especially you. I think you said something along the lines of "NO is now the best team in the west" when they signed him. How is that working out?
That still doesn't change the fact that both were key role players last year in the Celtics playoff run and they have yet to replace them with anything.......Posey hustles, provides D, is a knock down shooter, knows how to win, and has a high B-Ball IQ.........Brown made huge plays in the Cavs and Lakers series, and his physical presence brought another dimension to the celtics that they are missing down low this season....................I don't overrate people, because I never said either one of these guys belonged in the HOF..............
The defense is just as good or better without them. Brown was an insurance plan for Baby and Powe. Both of those guys have developed offensively and play well within the defensive system, unlike last year. Even if Brown was on the team this year, he would have been on the bench with Cassell all season. The only thing missing from those 2 guys is a clutch shooter down the stretch. And I'm hoping Eddie House can do that.
I don't see how it helps the Bulls? Doesn't Salmons play absolutely no defense? Miller? Is he still productive?
Salmons gives the Bulls an insurance policy if they let Ben Gordon walk this summer. He's also been a pretty efficient scorer this year, shooting something like 47% from the floor and 41% from the arc (though don't quote me on those numbers, didn't look them up). Miller, while he's not what he was a few years ago, can still be a productive low post player for the Bulls. He's also got a huge deal that expires after next season, so it could be used as trade bait next year or simply money that'll come off the books, giving them and added $12mil of wiggle room for that free agent class. For that matter, if they keep him around and let his contracts fall off the books next year and Salmons opts out to resign elsewhere, the Bulls would be looking at around $25mil in cap space for the summer of 2010, which is more than enough to bring in a Chris Bosh and someone else. But, most importantly in this deal, they got rid Nocioni's toxic contract. He still had 3 seasons left (maybe 4) and $20+ mil owed to him over the course of it. The Bulls save a good chunk of change by getting rid of him. Plus, he's also been pretty awful this year. His defense has taken a step back and he'd really become a chucker on offense, settling for a lot of threes and bad shots. So, while I didn't really like getting rid of Drew Gooden, I still liked the trade for the Bulls. It frees up cap space for 2010 by getting rid of Noc, gets them under the luxury tax for this season and gives them an insurance policy if Ben Gordon walks. Now, I wouldn't doubt if Pax works the phones plenty tomorrow, working on finding a way to get rid of Hinrich.
Nocioni's defense has slipped a lot these last couple years because of injury problems and his offense has been spotty, to say the least. He doesn't go to the hoop as much as he used to and settles for way too many threes now, which are not his forte at all.
