This would be the best of all of the possibilities. A good starting SF and a good back up PF.

    Please, please make this happen.

    Why is that a crock?

If the Blazers were talking to either (or both) teams, it seems ENTIRELY reasonable for someone to say, "Hey, we're going to make this deal" and then for KP to jump in and make it better for both the Kings (by giving them a superior backup while having the difference in salary covered by Portland) and the Blazers (by saving some money due to luxury tax implications).

Sorry, tried to make it clear but short. Just learned this rule today, thanks to a detailed discussion about it by Larry Coon that Ed linked me.

I thought it was updated because the latest trade was on there. If it's old, just ignore.

I may be wrong, but I doubt it is standard practice for other teams to be officially notified that a trade is about to go down, and then for the Blazers to instantly have an answer that garners a TE in exchange for Ike Diagu in the same trade. It seems odd to me, that's all. I also think it is foolish to take any information that the Blazers gave Canzano in a 100% literal manner.

Maybe Canzano asked KP questions in hypotheticals rather than mentioning or talking about the exact trade that happened. Maybe he just asked KP can a TE be used with RLEC, or something.

This is new b\c I checked that exact same article a few times today and this proposal was not on it....

and IMO, this seems to fit with what has "apparently" been going on b\t NJ & POR....

From everything I have read, Thorn has been asking for a LOT in return for Vince Carter & change (Stro Swift and K.Dooling)....

Raef, Outlaw, Sergio, Rights to Koponen and a 2009 1st rounder...It was speculated that KP didn't want to give up a 2009 1st and countered with 2 2009 2nds and a 2010 or future 1st.....

What if this was the compromise? POR gives up the 2009 1st, but gets CDR (who I like) and Ager instead of washed up Stro Swift and Dooling?

It is a possibility...and IMO makes the prospect of giving all that up for Carter a little more palatable....

    Hello darkness, my old friend
GMs are aware of what's going on, though. In Moneyball, the book recounted a story of A's GM Billy Beane hearing that the (then) Expos and Red Sox were about to do a deal. He called up the GM of the Expos, got confirmation and attempted to get involved in a three-way deal to net out a player he wanted from Boston.

So I assume that GMs do sometimes "swoop in" and attempt to get involved with trade dealings by other teams.

Another question now.. is what player on New Jersey, Milwaukee, Charlotte or whoever would satisfy the $3.13 mil exception?

I just found it curious that the Blazers had such an instant offer if they truly had just found out about the deal.

As I said previously, I just can't take any information that KP gave Canzano as literal.

I doubt KP has the time to chat with Crapzano right now.
