With the majority of people saying Brandon Roy has reached his peak, which probably isnt the case since he continues to get better, how good do you think he will become when he is in his prime?

He'll be right at the top of the league IMO. The kid can obviously play, and play well. A couple of NBA 1st/2nd team awards and an MVP award are very possible if Portland continue to do well, which they should.

I think he'll be a very, very good player. I think, at least with the way he's been playing recently, he could easily make some All NBA Teams and be right up there for the MVP a time or three...plus some All Star appearances along the way. To say the least, if he continues to improve the way has (which, for the record, has surprised me, because I never viewed him as a guy who could be this good), he's going to considered one of the elites, right up there with Kobe and co.

    He already is!

My son Brandon Roy is the truth. I don't know who said he was peaking, but if his first two years were any indication, he clearly is going to get better. He's not a super athlete, he's just extremely precocious with his skill and poise. Even though the MVP criteria is usually the best player on the best team, Brandon Roy is quite possibly the true most valuable player. The true indication of an MVP is how the team would fair if you take that player off it. And if you take Roy off the Blazers they wouldn’t be nearly as good as they are now. The same could be said about the Lakers, but with Bynum and Gasol around, Kobe, although still the focal point on the team, is not as valuable to the team. Perhaps LeBron is his main competition just because the Cavs have such an impressive record. But if they cool off, expect Roy to be right up there with him.

The reason why many picked the Blazers to be so good this year was because Oden was supposed to make a significant impact. Granted, he has been solid, averaging 8/8 in limited minutes, but many were expecting much more from the first overall pick last year. The way Roy took over the game last night was incredible and perhaps solidified how special of a prospect he is. It’s not just because he had a good night shooting the ball and had 52 points. Roy let the game come to him and was making smart decisions, which separates him from most of the league.

The best thing about Roy - is that he is a smarter basketball player than most he plays against. If you have good athletic ability and skills, great work ethic and your mind is better that most of your opponents - you are going to be an elite player in this league - and that's why Roy is going to be one of the top-5 players in the league at some point in his career (he is probably around #9-#10 this year).

Larry Bird was good athletically (but never elite), good skills, great work ethic and he was smarter than most players he played against - he was elite.

Same goes for Tim Duncan. Same goes for Grant Hill before the injuries.

Not sure Roy will be that good - but he is not going to be limited to just being an all-star - only an injury will stop him from being in the top-5 at his peak.

most great players get lost in the conversation if they haven't backed up there great play with a few rings. the more the blazers can get, the better player roy will be considered. i'm rooting for him and the blazers. And if history is any indicator of what brandon roy can do, when given the opportunity to be great...he takes full advantage.

I also think he's starting to top out.
Don't see him reaching the "elite" status. I think he'll end up as an asterisk in the history books - you know, that very good, efficient player that was overshadowed by legends of his time.

Here's a hypothetical. The NO Hornet's owners go belly up..."there's alot of talk of money issues and an unviable market", Move the team to Seattle, Brandon's Hometown, and some deal goes down in the next 4 years bringing CP3 to Portland for B-Roy Not straight up but something involving the two. You know more than Portland, BRoy would love to be home in Seattle. Just trying to play the devils advocate. Don't think it will happen.

if the hornets offered the blazers paul for roy straight up, i can't see the blazers doing that deal(of course, neither would the hornets).

How do the Blazers not jump all over that? Are shooting guards now more important than point guards?
