Didn't we go through something similar to this a few years ago with Damon's expiring contract? I vaguely remember thinking we were going to make a deal before the deadline, using an expiring to bring back some talent, and then feeling extremely let down that nothing happened. Am I wrong?
Sort of, but Damons expiring contract did not have the economic conditions to help its value that we have this year. Portland was also looking to reduce salary cap back then if I remember right, so in many ways it was just a bonus to get rid of the contract. Similar but different.
You are right Hasoos, but really I was just comparing the feeling of disappointment. I remember reading the same posts, "don't make a trade just to make a trade" and "we don't have all the information" etc etc etc.
Yea but I don't think we had a chance at the level of player we have heard discussed this year. Even the 4th guy in the list (Jefferson) is an upgrade. The top 3 are bonified tier 2 basketball stars. I don't think any names of that level of signifigance came up back then, although Vince might have been mentioned once or twice back then.
Yea whatever. GM's are going to make mistakes, that is a reality. No GM is perfect, although some do a better job of identifying and rectifying their mistakes than others. Guy doesn't fit? Move him before he becomes a problem situation. I will be bummed out if he doesn't do something. I would be more bummed out if I was Nate and he didn't give me the tools I need to compete in this league.
