I feel fine. It was exciting to think about landing Vince Carter but in the end, I think KP made the right decision. We have a great combination of young players and there was no reason to mess with it. Travis is clutch and only 24. Plus, trading him would've left us with Ruffin/Frye at backup PF though Ruffin may turn out to be good, who knows? The current team has a 33-20 record and is 4th in the conference so I'm fine with no trade.

Me too. We're probably in, but not moving Raef might set us back in the future.

I was wishy-washy about wanting a trade, but I think KP fell off of that pedestal by not making a move.

As Ed O pointed out in another thread, our assets are depreciating. I don't see how we don't loose value on our assets by waiting until this summer....if we do anything then.

Fry's expiring won't be available, and the insured portion of RLEC will be off the table this summer.

I'm not pissed, but I don't get how not making a move with our assets at their peak value was in the best interest of the team.

Losing faith in him to build a contender. KP isn't much of a risk taker it seems. Another failed trade deadline passes.

Easy answer. In KP I trust. Don’t make trades just to trade.

We have no clue what offers KP received. We have no LEGIT reason to doubt him.

On the plus side the Bucks are stuck with Jefferson for the time being and it makes it that much harder to retain both Charlie Villanueva and Ramon Sessions.

    Childress is looking good too.

I agree. The poll seems to assume that any trade would only have been of benefit this season.

Before we can accurately assess how we should feel, we should know EXACTLY what offers other teams gave us. And we'll probably never know that. (If I knew that Pritchard turned down RLEC and Bayless for Chris Paul, then HELL YES I'd be disappointed. As it is, I go with "in KP we trust".)

disappointed, and cautiously optimistic that we'll make a move this summer. key word there is cautiously, though. If it turns out that some of the proposed deals were in fact on the table I'll be pretty disappointed.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Still quite certain Portland makes the playoffs. They finished the hardest half of their schedule in the 4 seed and their younger players are better now than at the start of the season.

As far as the summer goes, Portland will have some cap space. How much is hard to say, since the cap may go down, but let's assume $5 million as a conservative estimate. In a trade, that would be $5 million of instant cash savings to another team. At the deadline, RLEC would have saved a team around $4 million instantly. So, while RLEC could save a team more in the long-run, Portland will actually be able to save a team more instantly in the summer. That will still be very attractive.

Meanwhile, don't forget the trade exception the Blazers picked up. That can very likely be turned into a first round draft pick, which could also be used in a deal.

I am disappointed in no trade, don't get me wrong. But it's certainly not the end of the world and it's not like it was Portland's final chance prior to going over the cap to make a trade splash.

who cares about the cap space. 5 million? It also means we have to send out guys that are "a part of our core" that KP loves so much to get a guy like Gerald Wallace again which obviously isn't going to happen because KP values his players too much.
