Salmons was had for next to nothing, we coulda had him for sergio and frye (type of players), we needed a short term fix at the 3 for cheap..could've done at least that..

I think it is more likely teams were asking for Rudy and/or some type of top three only protected pick.

I can't imagine a trade of RLEC+Outlaw for Carter/Wallace being seriously denied on Portland's end.

Roy, Aldridge, Rudy, and Batum were all acquired through trade, regardless of the time of year.

Are we all going to say a little prayer for Ramon Sessions in the summer?

your blind faith in pritch is amusing. how many times will he drop the ball.

but keep on telling us of some master plan that we're going to have cap space in 20 years or something.

Yea, blind faith. It's not like he was the one that put this team together or anything. He's obviously incompetent.

Its not that, we had a real assett and couldn't even upgrade our roster whatsoever. And this cap space people were harping about? doesn't exist either because its crap.

looks like Tom Penn is a little beeyotch. doesn't do shit. cap expert? bullshit. ooh...look at what we did with a HUGE expiring contract. oh well..we have cap room this summer...what? oh yeah, the field sucks ass.

this is our team for a while guys. like it or not.....we're going to just have to rely on the players getting better and more experienced, we're not adding a major piece...i doubt for a while. maybe a small addition here or there, but as far as impact player? I don't think its gonna happen.

KP is a good evaluator of talent. He has picked up some very good deals in the draft, where the pool is mixed with good and bad players.

In the trade market, the best players are not available. So, you have to value what is left and see if it works.

I'm guessing KP didn't see the type of talent he was looking for (for the price) and passed. He is likely going to get only one good shot at a major veteran--might as well make it a good one.

No trade today doesn't mean KP can't pull it off, just that he didn't see anyone worth the price.

I can't wait to resurrect this thread this Summer. It will be interesting to see if people feel the same. So far, in hindsight, KP has made several moves that looked questionable at the time they were made.

A short-sighted and stupid statement. Portland now saves over $4 million of on-hand cash on RLEC while poorer teams continue to flounder and lose money. Check back this summer and see how things turn out.

Can you name any conceivable scenario to obtain an impact player that we could have had? Any move to obtain any of the SFs are going to be much more expensive now that we don't have RLEC to trade off. If we can't do it with huge expiring contracts, now we'll actually have to package talent.

Yes, more imaginary cap space that will shift into nothingness.

As much as I wanted a trade, I was not enamored with Salmons. He's not that great.
