Did we resolve whether we can package the TE after 90 days or never package it?

Rod Thorn robbed himself. He built a team that now stands at 21-34 and still has a declining VC on the roster at $18m per year. You really will not see how much he robbed himself until the summer of "Shit, I really thought we could have got Bron".

Well, tbh, I think we already have our starting 5 for next year on the roster in Bayless, Roy, Batum, Aldridge and Oden. If we would have got Wallace I would have subbed him for Batum, but since we don't i'm ok. We will be fine.

If it upgrades us in talent and logically fits (I'm looking at you Gerald Wallace or Caron Butler) or doesn't cost us much at all (John Salmons) then yes I would advocate a trade-

How do you know that they know that was real? How do you know that some towel boy didn't make it up and feed it to them?

NEWSFLASH: GMs don't let the media know what they're actually discussing.

The Nets are struggling to make the playoffs, they are losing money, and they still have to pay Vince Carter to play on a team that is out of the playoffs right now.

But Thorn didn't get robbed! :biglaugh:

Also, if we make a move this summer with our 'cap space', do we have until the season begins or June 30?

Rod Thorn is doing a fucking interview in TV right now and he's saying that they were close to doing the deal put the pick screwed it up. KP thought the Nets were dumping Carter for anything so he was asking for more picks which won't happen

Not really. With Miles back on the cap, and the very strong possibility that the cap will go *down*, the only way we get that kind of space is to give up Outlaw and Blake. How is that any different than making a trade now? We still have to give up useful assets to add somebody.

I didn't even want Carter tbh.

I liked the prospect of adding a Jefferson/Wallace/Butler/etc, but I was never really in love with it.

Wallace maybe, but I can live w/o him being a Blazer.

Interesting stuff, KP wanted to trade Frye for Carter and probably a lotto pick.

Haha. Just funny how he is literally saying what happened.

Assuming he's not a liar, I don't think that the Golden State 2011 pick was worthy of making or breaking the deal, personally...

Ok, so what if Charlotte and Washington weren't just looking for savings but wanted some talent too. Lamarcus Aldridge and RLEC for either of them?

What if Sacramento really likes Nocioni? What if they rejected a Frye and RLEC for Salmons and Miller trade?

What if Charlotte was wavering on giving us Wallace for just what KP wanted so he decided not to do the Sacramento deal and then the Bulls did and Charlotte finally said no?

We just don't know. Why do we act like we do?

I'm disappointed, but I don't think that KP just sat there and said, "My players are too good and I'm not trading any of them."

The Nets are in rebuilding mode so picks and young guys are pretty much untouchable for us

Too bad that Thorn has to go on TV and basically whine about not having leverage. Bad form IMO. Looks like Thorn the bully got his bluff called.

Now he can sit and wait for another 1.5 seasons so LeBron can not sign with them.

Seems to me KP wants to have his cake and eat it too. Sure appears like he was getting lopsided offers but decided to ask other GM's for 'bend over and call me daddy' deals. I can't believe he didn't move Raef's contract with all the teams looking to cut salary... stunned.

I think it got through everyones mind that no matter how much cap space we have were not getting LeBron.

Paul Allen may not want to spend a bunch of money either, just like every other owner in the NBA. Carter is a lot of money, and if the Blazers were to take his contract on, the Blazers probably wanted something extra to make it worth it.

Doesn't seem that out of line to me.
