BG goes on one of his patented runs and the bulls are back in it. Glad to see them showing some heart.
Tyrus has at least picked up his game with 12 points. Nuggets are doing a great job keeping Rose out of the paint as he only has 2 on 1/5 shooting.
After a shaky first quarter, the bulls really came together. Tyrus and Noah are getting it done. BG had a great game. Kirk settling things down and running the offense and playing solid defense. Now they get to try and work two new guys in and not disrupt things...
Wish BG would play like this ALL the time....he shows how dangerous he can be. If Gordon plays like this atleast 90 percent of his games then I am hooked on trying to resign him. Hope this wasn't like a one time wonder game.
That's always the question. The great thing about having Rose and Hinrich is that there really isn't ever an excuse to put BG at the point. When BG just shoots he's a lot more effective.
If Gordon averaged 37 points a game 90% of the time, even if he scores 0 in the other 10%, he'll be scoring 33.3 PPG! I would be hooked on trying to re-sign that guy too.
You have to give props to Vinny for benching Rose in favor of Hinrich/Gordon in the fourth. Those two guys can play defense. It's not a matter of a guy like Ben being a great defender, but he does know how to play defense. Rose is just completely lost on defense. Hinrich/Gordon played pretty good defense, and then Gordon, Deng, and Tyrus finished them off on the offensive end. Nice to see Deng show some balls in the fourth.
I do not expect Gordon to score 37 points per night...BUT...rather learning how to keep the pedal to the metal more often is what I want from Gordon.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. BG was guarding Dahntay Jones and Anthony Carter, the fifth option again on a team that plays Billups, Melo and Nene. The bulls started their run with Hinrich/Rose when BG went out and when BG came back in Denver went up double digits again. Part of that was BG not being aggressive on offense until mid way through the second quarter. To start the third BG came out hot which he needs to do to offset the defensive deficiencies of that backcourt. But BG had a great offensive game after the first quarter.
I agree. The move to put Hinrich on Chauncey was bold given how well Rose was scoring, and it worked. It took the Nuggets out of the game, and is a reason, if not the reason the Bulls won. I hadn't been able to watch a game in a while. Also, someone ripped into Tyrus at halftime. He was staring at the ball in the first half/beginning of the third, and all over the offensive boards after that.
