Thursday, 3:55 p.m.: Bulls send Sefolosha to Thunder

Chicago is dealing Thabo Sefolosha to Oklahoma City for a 2009 first-round pick, a league source said. The Thunder own the first-round picks of the Suns and Nuggets, and will send the least valuable pick to Chicago in exchange for Sefolosha.

Interesting deal for OKC. On one hand, Sefolosha isn't that bad a player. On the other hand, those first round picks could definitely be put to better use.

Bizarre trade by the Thunder and a nice value deal by Chicago.

I like this trade as well. It was time for Sefolosha to go. I thought this even before the inbounds pass from the other night. lol.

    So basically we're looking at:

Tyrus Thomas (expiring rookie, young talent)
    Joakim Noah
John Salmons (affordable player whose produced)
    Omer Asik (foreign prospect)
    Brad Miller - expiring contract
    Tim Thomas - expiring contract
    Jerome James - expiring contract

I think Paxson stocked up to make a draft day trade.

Only one pick, and the least of the Suns and Nuggets, which will be pretty low. Still that pick will be cheap depth for us, and it probably nets us another $2M in cap space next year.

For a guy who never took advantage of his chances here. I think that's decent. Maybe people can stop trying to tell me he's better than Ronnie Brewer now.

Good deal by Chicago, but they should of kept Carney instead. :D

Meh, they should have drafted Brandon Roy and...well...some bad guy with the #16 pick.

I read it on hollinger that it was the better of the two picks, that it could be a late lottery pick. That's a much better deal for the bulls, more than he was probably worth at this point.

    It's actually the Spurs pick.

Yeah, Hollinger's changed the line since I first read it. He originally said it might be a lottery pick.

And everybody seems to love the Thabo pickup for OKC. Too bad he never really worked out here.

Well, he couldn't have a better opportunity at least. They've basically got no one of note at SG and he fits in theory. We'll see what he makes with the chance he's got.

While I thought Thabo played decent defense and was able to help rebound when playing the 2, he still had too many holes which limited his offensive game. Especially his jumpshot! Second worse on the team to Noah. It was a line drive dart that didn't even shoot straight. Considering how it's only marginally better from what he had when he came into the league, the Bulls didn't lose much in trading him.

    I agree.

I just read this from the sun times. Which I think is funny.

Surprisingly, most of the guys at ESPN.com think the Oklahoma City Thunder stole Thabo Sefolosha from the Bulls. What Thabo were they watching? They think the Thunder made the best moves of the trade deadline.
J.A. Adande was the only one who favored the Bulls, and John Hollinger gave the Bulls a B grade.

They've already got scorers in OKC, they need to fill in pieces around them. Despite what some think, it's more important to get 5 guys playing together than to get your five best players on the court.

Well, judging by his 0 point, 5 foul in 18 minute performance last night, Thabo isn't one of them.
