Nice to be the top dog on a stat that doesn't matter or make any sense. Woo-Hoo!

I'd pay good money to watch the top five on that list play the next five.

Okay, I wouldn't. But I'd spend some time looking for the free internet feed.

Of course, ultimately nothing matters or makes sense. So what's your point? (Don't bother - you haven't got one - nobody does!)

yesterday, Ralph Lawler on the clippers broadcast said that Roy would be one of the top 5 in guys he would start a franchise with right now. that's pretty high praise.

Meh, Roy is entering the realm of the overrated. He wouldn't be so good if he didn't have Steve Blake creating for him.

Mook, didn't you get Barrett's memo? Anytime you write "Steve Blake", it's required to put "14-assist-in-one-quarter" adjacent or in the middle of it.

Well if you look at this stat Aldridge is in some pretty elite company.

Yes, I know you're being funny, but I'm going to miss the point entirely and take it seriously: actually Blake doesn't often create for Roy - it's more the other way round. At least that's what my eyes are telling me (probably wrongly). For example, yesterday Roy had like 2 points after the first quarter when Blake was getting all those assists. Aldridge is the most common recipient of a Blake assist, I'll bet. Meanwhile, in crunch time it's Roy who's creating and Blake who's spotting up.

Depends on the conversation. For example:

"You know who's a hated asshole? Kobe Bryant. You know who isn't? Brandon Roy."

    See?

(Eric, are you happy that MIXUM's looking to you for backup?)

What's interesting is that both of those stats have Jason Kidd ranked incredibly highly. Is Mark Cuban behind this?

Adjusted +/- isn't a bad statistic, so long as there's a reasonably large sample size. It accounts for which players are on the floor with the player in question, unlike pure +/-.

Kobe is still a bit more productive than Roy individually, but it's possible that Roy makes up that ground and then some in defense and creating for teammates.

I certainly don't take adjusted +/- as gospel, but it's definitely an interesting and useful metric.

Didn't someone try to argue Devin Harris was better than Brandon? Harris is even better than Kobe!

Well, logically I think Kobe Bryant is a better player, no doubt. Brandon Roy will be great, but Kobe is the best player in the world.

He meant Kobe was the best playa in the world. That's why they call him "Mamba". That, and the fact that he insists on it.

Simply using common decency as a yardstick, pretty much everyone in the NBA is better than the anal-rapist.
