It's not just racial profiling, cultural profiling is also a problem.

True. They aren't in the same catagory of scum as the others but they sure aren't hero's and they are way over compensated for their "work". Being a fireman should never be a full time job. It should only be a side job and pay accordingly.

well, they're often on call..they always have to be on call for emergencies from car accidents, to fires, etc.

i don't know how much they make though. but they are essentially like medical staff x handimen x ????

I think firemen are pretty valuable. they're a line of defense for property and health and accidents, etc.

IMO, they're more valuable than teachers since they protect the citizens and help them in a bind when accidents happen.

Such as the many laws targeted at homeless people. For instance there is a law police abuse that states when in downtown Portland you may not step more than two feet away from any of your property. That means a ups driver is a criminal when he stacks up packages and goes to get more. Or when a window washer dares to step away from his washing bucket. Or when a mother leaves her stroller to put her child in her car seat. That's criminal activity. But police don't go after those criminals they use the law to unlawfully and imorally conduct searches of homeless people. A judge just ruled that this law is uncosntitutional but the Portland police continue to selectively enforce it. Now just who are the criminals? By acting this way the police are acting as terrorists againt the citizens, since they cannot be prosecuted for their crimes I see no reason why I don't have the right to take up arms against them.

meh. kind of lame to do so. we had some homeless people sleepign in our parkign lot at work, called the police, they chased them away.

The police we have now is exactly why the 2nd amendment was written. We're supposed to shoot and kill people who infringe on our rights.

The original post demonstrates an absurd level of ignorance I've never come across before, even on the internet.

Firemen retire when they are around 50 years old because by then they are either dying from asbestos-caused cancer, or are so crippled from falling through burning buildings onto cement basement floors that they can barely walk from the constant pain. How does this happen, you say? Because they were trying to save your worthless ass, that's how.

Policemen retire when they are around 50 years old because by then they are either on the edge of insanity or about ready to eat their gun from seeing man's inhumanity to man each and every day of their lives and not being able to do much about it. Military Servicemen retire when they are around 50 years old because if they weren't killed or crippled in war they are usually dying by then from some horrible substance they were exposed to by their own government without their knowledge. How does this happen, you say? Because they were trying to save your worthless ass, that's how.

Firemen become Firemen because they know someone has to pull babies out of burning buildings and they feel up to the task.

Policemen become Policemen because they know some people need to be controlled and they feel up to the task.

Military Servicemen enlist because they know there are evil regimes that need to be held in check and they feel up to the task.

The common thread is all 3 ended up needing to retire at 50 because they risked their lives trying to save your worthless ass.

Makes me wonder what, if anything, you've ever risked for someone else?
