    Maris, I fully agree.

This was not a game that we were "supposed" to win. Would it have been nice? Absolutely. But only elite caliber teams can reasonably expect to go into a tough road game like that and put their odds at over 50%. The ESPN AccuScore thingamabobby had us as something like 25% to 75% underdogs. While I don't put a whole lot of stock in those kinds of predictors, it does make it clear that conventional wisdom would not have given us great odds of winning that game. The fact that we came close at the end there speaks volumes.

I think that as this team matures and tightens up on the emotional front (and yes, snags a good solid veteran in the offseason) we'll see those terrible streaks on the road start to diminish and the strong runs increase. I will also say this -- I don't think last year's Blazers would have had the ability to mount a comeback like that in the 4th quarter.

Did I miss the entire intent of Maris's post? Or did you?

    Stat for stat?

    Bayless vs Sergio?

Over and over. Over and over. Over and over. Thread after thread. Thread after thread.

    Most meaningless stat ever?!?!

    W's vs L's.

    It's funny.

    Right? :)

Yup we are a pretty solid young team, but not even a trade would have made us an "elite" team this year. I'm just happy to see us compete and continue to gain experience.

No, I read it the same way, but I chose to respond to it at face value. Really, when it comes down to it, final scores ARE the most meaningful stat... They determine playoff seedings, playoff eliminations, and finals champs. But I don't think that losing last night's game was "meaningful" in the sense that it didn't reveal anything about this team that we don't already know: like the vast majority of NBA teams out there, we still struggle to beat good teams on the road. I sure didn't lose any sleep over it.
