I won't panic on Oden being out. A bone chip in a knee is more serious for a big guy because of all the banging down low. It sucks having him out, but the Blazers just need to hang in there without him. I know everyone wants him to be the star right now, but we still have to be patient. Big guys take longer to develop. It's not Odens fault, Rudy has pretty much been playing bad, and Outlaw is unreliable. I think we are in a typical young team funk right now and it is hard to watch at times. I think it is unrealistic to think we could make it past the first round anyway. KP is going a very patient route for good or bad.
Oh all right . . . I'm wrong again (probably other examples too) . .. but no, not over Lebron. Thanks kaydow . . I'll be scrutinizing your posts.
I know Greg can play but does he want to? Fair question! His desire to be good not even great seems a bit off! Look at the great ones, Kobe, Lebron, Shaq, Kobe, now ask yourself? Do you see that same fire in Oden? Time will tell! I hope for the best!
I agree its a fair question. sometimes he doesn't look happy here in P-town. Just kind of being sleepy...looks stoned actually a lot of the time. Again, I'm quite worried about this....one of the biggest comforts is that Bynum is in LA playing well so there's no place for Oden there. NY is not a concern really....don't see him in Miami....
lay off Oden people. We rushed Blake and Martell back, and look how that worked. We should be able to beat Minny with or without Oden. I trust his decision over anyone else's. After all, it is his own damn knee. I know we are all frustrated at this whole injury bug, but don't you think Greg hurts 10 times more? Quit thinking only of yourselves and being selfish. If people start getting on Greg..man..get a fucking life. He has the desire to win, he just stays level headed.
Come on now. Can't we let Oden get through his rookie year before being to critical of him? Kevin Durant made a tremendous improvement from last year to this year.
I don't recall anybody criticizing Oden last season, and I don't care if this is considered his rookie season because the complaints I am reading don't deal with on-court issues.
I guess that's my problem. I'm not convinced that he does, and if he doesn't, well, let's not go there.
Exactly your problem. You don't know squat about him other than what Jason Quick spoon feeds you. Micro fracture surgery used to be a 50/50 recovery rate. Give the kid a damn break and let him gain some skills over the summer so he can develop a game he can be confident in. Greg is rookie through and through...
HB nailed it on the head. NONE of us know Greg and what goes on inside his head. It is judgmental and naive to think we can tell how he feels or what he is thinking based on seeing him on TV. From the interviews I have seen, Greg only wants to play. People bitching about him will only make it worse. Please do not make him out to be another scapegoat.
I'm wondering what I've said that would elicit such a response. Are you saying that Quick lied about Oden saying he was cleared to play? As for the micro-fracture surgery, Oden is long beyond the recovery period for that surgery, and this isn't even on the same knee. Oden is cleared to play, and he isn't playing. If a person can't bring that up without being attacked for not "know(ing) squat", then what is the point of this board? I guess I could say that you don't know squat either, and you don't even have Quick's quote of Oden to base your claim on.
I seem to recall Blake and Webster being cleared to play as well, just because you are cleared, doesn't mean you should.
Well that's where you're wrong. Just lack week when we went out banging hookers and doing lines of coke off of their asses, he told me that what he really wanted out of life was to become a singer and dancer in an off-broadway play ... or maybe become a dentist as a fallback. Shows how much you know buddy!
Oden was cleared once before to play this season after his ankle and did so without further injury. What's your point other than to bash on the Blazer training staff.
