Hell yeah! Show DJ some love. I love this guy because of his work ethic. He is our only big man that hustles up and down the court EVERY SINGLE PLAY. He did it last year, too. I really hope he gets a chance to crack the rotation and give Pau and eventually Bynum some rest. His offensive game is raw, but respectable. He can nail those baby jumpers and he uses the glass very effectively. If he can keep out of foul trouble, he can definitely be a good bench player. Nice to see Phil supporting him.

Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos! Dacos!

^you know what that means, dacos for the 2010 allstar game!

yeah everyone seems to like dacos, i like him too, i dont mean to bring the topic down, but if we had a better second option at center id be much happier, this team wants to win now.

A 2nd option at Center would see no burn. When healthy, this team rarely uses 3 centers. That time is divided up between Pau and Bynum, mostly. Having Mbenga as a 3rd option is awesome. Right now he is the back up C and he has done a nice job giving Pau a 6 minute break.

I see what you're saying but I'm glad we had some kind of backup plan after Mihm proved to be a dud. I don't know why we ever brought him back. That's one of Mitch's few mistakes recently, we should have another vet before bringing in Dacos into the game.

No we shouldn't. If Dacos can just stay out of foul trouble, he is a decent back up.

He is decent but this is the issue of why we even had Mihm again. Having another savvy vet or someone more fluid offensively for certain situations should be another option for us.

Because before Mihm got hurt he was a very serviceable center. At one time, he was the most consistent Laker outside of Kobe Bryant. Mihm deserved another shot and unfortunately for him, it didn't work out.

He was a risky signing that hadn't played well since the early part of 06. It worked for Chris Andersen (leaving the game as somewhat of a scrub), but he hadn't suffered through the same kind of injuries.

It was a low risk, high reward signing, IMO. We easily traded him out.

Mihm was terrible last year, it was a stupid move to me.

It is low risk if our starters stay healthy, we don't even need to worry about it then. Now it became important and without Dacos we really have no one else to pick up the load.

Maybe you don't get all the media coverage and news reports out there in Miami, but Mihm put in a shit load of work over the offseason to get his ankle healthy. He completely had it rebuilt and the organization gave him a shot to get back to his self before the injury. Nothing wrong with that, players are given chances like that all the time. It didn't work out and we traded him. Not stupid at all. We've had a free roster spot all year anyways, haven't we? We also have the MLE. If we wanted to sign someone when Bynum went down, we could have.

So what was he doing for the two+ years he couldn't play and/or sucked? I think that is overblown really, he tried very hard to come back before, he was just garbage. We gave him 2.76 million based on what exactly? Hopes and dreams? Mitch can do whatever he wants with the MLE, I just think he handled this poorly compared to his other moves.

How did he handle it poorly? It isn't your money, so why is it a stupid move? We gave him a chance to get his career back on track and his ankle just can't take it anymore. Nothing wrong with giving him a shot, nothing stupid about it, either.

It was a stupid move because he was terrible last year, give him a shot at some point but don't just give up on finding someone better.

They didn't give up on finding somebody better. They could have still found someone, if they wanted it. They have the MLE to use. They don't want any additions to the roster. If they wanted to add a big, they would have done it when Bynum went down.

Why not take advantage of our additional roster spot on a one year deal then? We have room.

Dacos worked out for us, good. Mihm was destroyed by his ankle problems and our lack of trust in him caused our other starters to get unnecessary minutes early on in the year. If LA had for example, just cut Mihm's ass or made him a project player behind Dacos on the depth chart, even that would have been a better situation. He was such a waste of time, you could see how much he sucked for most of this season as well.
