Damn Ive watched those old UFC's...I thought nut shot werent allowed either...Thats fucked up, who cares if it is allowed! If you are a real man you dont do that to another unless its life or death
Ok, get this: Rorion Gracie, one of the founders of the concept, wanted the ring to be floating on water filled with alligators or the fencing to be electified barbed wire mesh. For real.
Well Ive never heard that but yeah, I have heard him bitching about how there were too many rules, even in the old UFC I think he said. I understand how you TRULY see what works and what doesnt with no rules. He wanted it for the purity of the sport but with getting the sponsorship to actually make it happen with fighters from around the world comes rules from the people giving the money.
He didn't want there to be any rules, like some crazy Vale Tudo death match. Supposedly they had to twist his arm, so to speak, just to outlaw eye gouging and biting. Like you said, conceptually its easy to understand what he was going for, but realistically, the UFC never would've happened in America by his design. At least not legally. Another little known story about the creation of the UFC here.
lol, both those ideas are horrible. 1. If it was floating on water, the ring would get tippy when the two fighters got near the edge lol and possibly the ref if he is trying to watch closely. Then obviously the alligator idea would never get passed. 2. barbed wire electric fence, the fights would basically becoming sumo wrestling contests, whoever could push their opponent to the fence, the opponent is getting messed up fast. Having your back rubbed up against Barb wire, and you lose. And depending on the power of the fence damn that would hurt or kill.
