found this on a site. Quit interesting how much pressure is on new comers to win as soon as they arrive in the UFC. Still it comes down to Dana and co.'s perceptions of how well the fighter performs, but they have he wording of the contract to allow them to dump anyone if they don't win their first 2 fights. I like that a fighter can get back in with the same contract if they can go out and get a couple of wins outside the UFC. It's most likely what they've done with Cro-Cop and a few other Vets who have been in and out of the UFC.
Even winners aren't guaranteed a place on the roster. The UFC reserves the right to terminate a contract, IIRC.
It'd have to be the last fight on their contract if it was. I know a ton of fighters have been let go in the last 3 months but they've all been after losses I believe.
Got any names? Werdum cut after losing to Dos Santos Soko after losing to Cane Clementi after losing to I dunno? etc.
You could site Arlovski as example, however that was due to his contract being up, and Affliction offering a considerably bigger payday. (Who would say no to 1.5 million and get a shot against Fedor?) or I guess Barnett, he technically won against Couture, but then tested positive for steroids. I don't know if he had more fights left on his contract before the UFC either cut him or didn't resign him.
A not too recent example is matt lindland. He won his fight but many ppl considered him very boring as he controlled ppl with his wrestling and did enough to win the fight but never tired to end the fight. He was cut from the UFC because he wore advertising for an online poker site that fighters were told not to wear. Many ppl consider it a strong response to a minor infraction and it was more of a legal excuse to cut lindland.
