    Stafford
    Curry
    Jason Smith

Those are my top 3. Nobody else is worthy of consideration. Too bad Michael Johnson couldn't play up to his ability because we could use a dominant DE.

    Curry
    Smith
    Raja guy

Thats my top three, But we gotta get the contracted signed before the draft. We dont need a "franchise" QB we just need one that dont throw like a girl.

The Lions do need a franchise QB. We haven't had one in 50 years. There's no coincidence that the Lions haven't won jack squat in that same time frame.

I like Curry and if Mayhew and Co aren't comfortable with Stafford because they don't think he'll succeed, I'm ok with the pick.

I think Jason Smith is going to be a beast and would rather pick him and cut Backus. He'd be a rock at LT for a decade and would be a great bookend to Gosder.

Raji is just too inconsistent to be even considered in the top 3. I think he could go to Seattle @ 4, but if the Lions were fed up with Shaun Rogers for playing hot and cold every game, then Raji wouldn't be a good fit. If Gerald McCoy and Ndamukong Suh would have declared, Raji would be the 3rd DT taken.

I'm curious as to your thoughts on getting Byron Leftwich in Free Agency. He did very well in spot time in Pittsburgh, with a bad O-Line. If you guys sign him, maybe you can grab Curry to add to the Defense and maybe grab a couple O-Linemen later in the draft. Having Culpepper already does kind of make the situation of signing Byron more difficult but just a thought I had.

I liked Byron coming out of college. That was before I put a lot of time in analyzing what really makes QBs successful. His long baseball wind up and his stiff front leg are are very bad combination. That leg is prone to getting rolled up on and he's battled a lot of leg injuries because of it. He's a statue in the pocket and has trouble escaping pressure because he has to really set, wind up, and throw to be really accurate.

I'd take Leftwich over the turnover/sack machine in Culpepper, but the guy has already got his roster bonus at the end of last month, and he seems to be Mayhew's guy for the moment.

Okay make sense. They got a month or so left to decide.

You musta forgotten about Joey Harrington, or Charlie Beatch. :) Farve and Manning have the same amount of Superbowl victory's as Trent Dillfer and Brad Johnson.

You can't be afraid to invest into a QB or you'll never get one. Joey was a bad pick at the time, and I'm a huge Ducks fan. Expecting to draft a Tom Brady in the 6th round or picking up a Kurt Warner as an UDFA has terrible odds. I'd rather gamble on a 1st round QB who has shown to have a bust rate of about 50%. I'm not saying to draft a QB just to draft a QB. I honestly think Stafford has the skill set to be a great QB in the league. He comes from a pro-style offense, has an unbelievable arm, has a hella quick release, is tough, is highly intelligent, he's a film junkie, and he's handled the pressure of being a potential NFL QB since he was in high school. I think the odds are stacked in his favor.

Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson are the exceptions. Both of them played for some of the highest rated defenses in NFL history. They both have multiple HOFers on those defenses. The Lions are a looooooooooong way from even having a mediocre defense at the moment. The thing with Peyton Manning and Brett Favre is that they are in the playoffs just about every year. A great QB will at least keep you in contention every season. Sure you need a good team to win the Super Bowl, but as long as you can make it to the playoffs you have a chance. Just look at the recent Super Bowl winners and losers. Most of them caught lightning in a bottle to carry them to the Super Bowl.
