Probably their age. She's too young to have a baby yet alone care for a kid husband. Also, he probably wants to sow some wild oats before he settles down. He may become the next Shawn Kemp.

It had to do with who was gonna watch the baby, while the other was out bagging moose.

I wonder why no one has invented a stroller you can attach to the back of a "snow machine". That way, they can do both!

Yep, this kid sounds like your basic "4 F". As in "Find 'em, Feel 'em, F**k 'em, Forget 'em."

Some kids seem to have it easier than others. Chelsea had quite a few pretty cruel jokes made about her looks. The Bush girls seemed to get off fairly lightly. Obama's daughters are pretty much sacred right now.

Having kids is a pretty big wild card for a politician. You can say all you want about family values, but when your own teenage daughter gets knocked up and the boyfriend bails on a shotgun wedding, it's pretty hard to spin.

If I were in Palin's shoes and I knew I had this private drama going on, there's no way I would have accepted the Vice Presidential nomination. It's just not worth having the biggest crisis to ever happen in your daughter's life becoming tabloid scandal.

For me . . . I found it interesting that politics basically created a relationship that isn't there. I was skeptical at the Republican National Convention when they showed the two sitting together like a happy little couple.

Is there anyone who really thought those two were going to work out? I guess I care because it confirms what I thought from the begining . . . that whole engaged to be married was window dressing fro Palin's campaign.

    Lets assume thats completely true.

    And it probably is.

What manner of persuasion do you suppose was used to get the young fella to go along with the charade?

A team of savy washington politicans trying to convince a 19 year old boy from a small twon to go along with their plans . . . I'm thinking it wasn't that hard.

He probably loved the attention, the treatment he got at the republican convention, being flown all over the place and treated like royalty . . . and the whisper in his ear about a possible lucrative book deal no matter how it goes down in the end (as long as he goes with things and gets an inside look at the campaign).

I wouldn't think it would be too hard to convince a young man, who the whole nation is watching, to step up to the plate and announce that you are doing the "right thing" . . .

i would have to think a book deal painting them in a negative light would be much more lucrative. he could spill all the inside stuff im sure she told him about her mother/father/etc. how she used to get beat with the bible, forced prostitution with russian diplomats, or that she likes getting pissed on.

sounds like a bestseller to me.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's none of our business. The less I know about Bristol Palin or any child of a politician, the better. It's not the kid's choice to put themselves front and center.

    This.

I am glad the marriage off if either (or both) one of them didn't want to get married. It is hard enough raising an unexpected child at a young age, and it would have been even worse for the child to have parents forced into a marriage neither wanted.

Hopefully the young man handles his responsibility though.

You're reading the ruler wrong. Those are millimeters, not inches.

    ~

I'm confused how living in the third biggest city in America, a city with ~80,000 people 15 minutes away from a big city (Milwaukee) and a little over an hour away from another (Chicago), and a city with ~100,000 that is a college town is the same in living in a town that had a ~5,400 population and then the capital of a state that is disconnected from the rest of America.

What the hell is even an urban sophisticate? There's a difference between not living in a major metropolitan area and shooting animals from a helicopter.
