Here's my favorite Blazer keepsake of all time . . . the official team photo from 1970-71, the Blazers' first year in the NBA. I attended the game when this photo was handed out in that first season, and have kept it ever since. Notice that it includes Geoff Petrie and Rick Adelman, as well as Bill Schonely. The photo was taken in the old Memorial Coliseum, where 12,666 fans packed into every single game for years.

I believe the magic number was 12,666!

Since next year is the Blazers 40th year, the team should do a retro team photo. And wear retro uniforms too.

Heck, they should do a theme for each 41 home games (the 41st being like an introduction to the next uniform or something).

They better bring back those unis for at least one game next year! Not the short shorts though, but the knee-high socks are cool too.

I believe you are right. My bad. I should have gotten it straight, since I attended a few of those sellouts back in the 70's.

Yeah, the Blazers really do need to wear those uni's for a couple games this season or next. The font looks sweet.

Agreed. Even with the current uniforms and hairstyles, just posing a team picture like that would be hilarious.

12,666 was a magical number. Just not in the first few years. Thankfully. As a 11, 12, 13 and 14 year old nothing was better than buying a ticket for $2.00 and sneaking down to the lower level by the second quarter to watch Wilt, Lew, Jerry, Walt, Pistol Pete, Oscar etc. (although Petrie was my idol) We usually got killed, but those were great memories.

One time in 1975 or 1976, I was bored and my parents were going to the game and only had two tickets. We decided to take the chance and see if we could get a ticket before the game from anyone. The alternative was sitting in the car and listening to Schonz. I took the chance and got (ANYONE REMEMBER THIS?????) the wooden bench at the very top row!! Like others, second half snuck down and sat in a real chair!!
