Blake: 9pts, 4-14 FG, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 turnover, 1 steal, and appalling defense in 38 HORRIBLE minutes. Bayless: 0pts, 0-0 FG, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 1 turnover, 0 steals, and appalling defense in 10 HORRIBLE minutes. Sergio: 1pt, 0-1 FG, 1 rebound, 0 assists, 1 turnover, 0 steals, and appalling defense in 6 HORRIBLE minutes. Some questions -Why the fuck is Blake attempting 14 field goals? -Why the fuck can't Idiot Nate decide on a backup PG and stick with that one guy instead of playing both?
Nate has gotta tighten up the rotation, but injuries aren't allowing him to. Once healthy, i'm hoping that Bayless or Sergio aren't playing backup PG and they use a 3g rotation of Rudy, Roy and Blake.
Doesn't need to be. I'm seriously considering the idea of starting Rudy at PG, and moving Blake to the second unit. Put Bayless at the the 2, and let him be a scorer rather than a distributor.
A big reason why the home team usually wins games is because of the bench. Most team's second unit struggle on the road. With our lack of depth right now, ours is suffering. Outlaw was fine, But that was it as no one else scored. (until 20 seconds in the game) Rudy is still not OK. Oden being out hurts the aggressiveness of LMA and Joel on defense as they can't afford to get into any foul trouble. We need Rudy back 100%. We need Webster and we need Oden. We can get by at home, but not on the road as the home team has so much more energy. Boston is a perfect example of this today. They lost in Milwaukie as their bench went 1-12.
Blake attempted 14 field goals? Great Caesars Ghost!!!! I've been saying Rudy as our point guard since last summer. I think it's worth a try.
I remember at least 3 times other guys passed him the ball with no time on the shot clock, or he had to drive and throw one up because of the clock. He only got a couple of those shots in the flow of the offense.
Well I'm glad YOU'RE finally considering this! J/K Honestly though, does Rudy look like he can bring the ball up to you against pressure? I have doubts about that. He's a pretty average ball handler and I think you can fluster him by playing him close/physical. I guess why not give it a try though, right? I'm so tired of watching our current PG's. Blake has his moments, but he should be a b/u. His ceiling (IMO) is a high quality b/u on a good team or a starter on an average/poor team. Is it asking too much to wish for a PG who can 1) play good on ball defense 2) defend the pick-and-roll at least sometimes 3) push the ball up the floor and get us some easy baskets/get us into our offense quickly (and not when the defense is SET every single time) 4) protect the basketball 5) knock down open shots 6) make FT's in crunch time? We have a PG by committee that do SOME of those things individually, but not even close to all of them. So you think Rudy might be the answer? Hmmmmm.
Name me 10 point guards (out of 30 teams) that match your criteria. I'm guessing that might be tough. Point guards that can consistanly achieve all of your above goals are rare.
How can you consider the idea? You're not the coach. You said that like you might actually be able to do it.
I guess I should have explained myself better. I realize a guy that excels in all of those categories is rare. I'd settle for 4 or 5 out of 6. I'd take any of these guys below as our starting PG this year D Harris, CP3, D. Williams, Mo Williams, T Parker, J Terry, C Billups, R. Foye, A Miller, D Rose, R Westbrook, S Nash, TJ Ford, M Bibby, R Sessions, R Stuckey, R Felton, R Rondo, D Fisher, J Kidd, J Calderon, C Duhon, N Robertson I couldn't decide on a few like B Udrih, A Brooks, J Jack, M Conley, etc.
Bibby, Sessions, and Miller are free agents this summer. Felton and Nate Robinson have been mentioned in trade rumors. Rondo, Deron Williams, CP3, Parker, and Harris are untouchable. Westbrook and Rose are on their way to being untouchable, if they aren't already. Nash, Williams, Stuckey, and Calderon could be had, but it would take quite a bit. Duhon, Ford, Kidd, and Fisher... I don't know.
Felton will be a RFA, Kidd will be a UFA. Not that I'm promoting signing either (and Charlotte will likely match any reasonable offer...I wouldn't want to overpay for Felton). Just mentioning it for the sake of interest.
I think the sun has set on PHX and they will cut Nash in the offseason, they have a team option and will save the 7mil he is owned. I think he will rejoin Mike D in New york. Sarver is so cheap it is ridiculus.
Nash is averaging 23/10 this month. If the Suns let him walk for nothing they are stupid. Who's going to come to the games w/o Nash?
