The whole area wouldn't feel the same without the coliseum.

I just hope when they build it, it has the infrastructure to support a possible MLB team. Also, I hope there's enough destination retail to make the RQ usable year 'round. The problem with the current configuration is that unless there's a game going on, the place is a ghost town.

The Portland Public Schools site was a good one, but my first choice for the MLB site was the Post Office in the Pearl. But who am I kidding? I love baseball so much, Major League Baseball could have put a ballpark in my back yard.

The Pearl would be a great location. With the massive redevelopment in that area a MLB stadium would be the icing on the cake.

Yeah, not having that unused, blighted picture of bad 1960's architecture sure would ruin the Rose Quarter experience.

I don't understand the question. I thought the proposal was to put it where the MC currently is?

    I thought so too.

And though I'm an engineer, I don't know a ton about contruction...can you build a single- or double-deck stadium that seats around 25k or so and later on add a 3rd deck that adds 15k or so seats? Or is that cost- and safety-prohibited?

I'm sure if you design it with that in mind to begin with, it can be done easily enough.
However, they are talking about seating 9000, not 25000, and I haven't heard that they are considering any future expansion.

It will really be unfortunate if they build that small of a baseball stadium with no ability to upgrade it in the future. I know it is always a long shot to get MLB here, but if it wasn't upgradable, and we were to ever get a MLB team, the stadium would be a waste, as you can't have a minor league team in the same city.

Like I said in a previous post of mine. The Beavers barely drew 1500 - 2500 during Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Most of their attendance was Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I just realized....what's that building in the middle? The one where Drexler Way should be. Is that the soccer field? I thought that was going to be downtown?

    Man, I'm now confused.

I'd guess that is the concert venue that the blazers have proposed.

You're repped now, Fez. Not just b/c of the big picture that I can now make things out from, but also b/c while looking at it I get to see Garnett punched over and over.

And it seems barfo was right.

IDK if it is just me, but wouldn't it be wise, if we are planning for an MLB franchise to move to Portland, to build a retractable roof like Safeco Field in Seattle?

Edit: After watching the video it looks like we're planning for a minor league team. Which makes sense; though, i would hope we aim higher.
