whoah that would require some big pieces leaving here. Who would you package? (dont worry about contracts.. I'm just wondering which of our guys you had in mind)
Well it sounds like Monta wants out of Golden State. Getting the two would almost certainly require trading Bayless a draft pick or two, Outlaw and another quality player, but the great thing is that we wouldn't have to match salaries.
monta might be able to be had but they wouldlikely want to dump eiher maggette or sjax on us to get i done. personally, i think that would be a small price to play, assuming that either would be willing to take a backup role. magette would be a nice backup 2/3/4 as would sjax imo. maybe bayless/outlaw/martell gets it done? basically it would replace bayless with ellis in the rotation which is an enormous upgrade, and replaces outlaw with maggette or sjax, which also is an upgrade imo.
I know they want to dump maggette, but I thought Don Nelson is pretty high on Stack Jack? But hell, if the Warriors really wanted to 'dump' Jackson on us along with Monta I'd do that in a heartbeat; that would immediately move him him to the starting lineup as the 3 for this team. He defends, he can play point-forward a little bit, and he's just a very good scorer. If Maggette was the price we had to pay I probably wouldn't pull the trigger; he's enormously talented as a one on one scorer and gets to the foul line almost at will, but he strikes me as a net negative player.
bayless Rudy 1st for Monta? i love bayless, but i see him as an Ellis type. Ellis is only 1-2 years older than him and already at a high level..martell moves over to the backup 2.
I hesitate giving up Rudy.. I know he has been rusty but the dude jsut understands the game.. and will be a HUGE part of our crunch time team IMO. Watch him and he always makes that perfect extra pass to someone who is open. We will need him off the bench for a LONG time
We need a true point guard who can distribute the ball and put players in position to score. Ellis isn't that guy, he has one thing on his mind when he's playing.
Jose Calderon, signaling with his thumb and first finger the amount of defense he plays: No thanks to Jose.
I would also not give up Rudy. I think we can make a package around Bayless/Webster/1st and then take back some of their salary (since we won't have to match)... We can also get another 1st with our TE and seconds and use that as bait as well, or use the TE to get Turiaf? IDK... and with all the things goin' on in GS between Ellis and the management, I think we could do it, and we would have the best backcourt in the NBA from Day 1 of the Roy/Ellis/Aldridge/Oden dynasty! Actually, in a couple years probably the best backcourt, and the best front court (Aldridge, Oden maybe?)... nice... Edit *Obviously this is just my view of Ellis, and how we could get him and how he would perform on our team and what we need at the PG spot next to Roy. I believe we vary greatly on this, but I really think Ellis would be similar, if not near extremely similar to Devin Harris in NJ (as he has been playing less D and becoming more and more of a scoring PG) but like 3 years younger. I think Ellis is not only one of the best options we can get at PG, but definitley one of the most realistic along with maybe Ramon Sessions. But I also understand the arguement against Ellis on our team. But if its for character, rest assured that even though he had a moped accident (lol) he is a very, very good kid.*
I'm fully on the Patrick Mills bandwagon. Also, DJ Augustin would fit in great with Brandon Roy. He may only be 5'11" but he can run a team and score in bunches.
Mills reminds me of what Eddie House was like in college. A 5'10" shooting guard in a point guards body. He might handle point guard capabilities, but his main focus is his own offense not the teams offense. I wouldn't be opposed to Mills if it were later in the draft and we were using that pick to upgrade our bench. But Mills is no starter in the NBA.
