http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2009/03/behind_the_blazers_locker_room_2.html I love these pieces that Quick is putting out now. Check out the bit about Roy and Travis trying to do a prank on Oden. Pretty funny.
In the past i have never read his artilces word for word. I usually just scan them. These are enjoyable.
Excellent! Thanks for posting this. Three bits that caught my eye: 1) His candid thoughts on the Frye/Nate relationship; 2) Roy's cell phone on silent during a team meeting ( ); 3) Oden's impact on this team. Thanks again..
That was funny. Not sure I would add Ruffin to the mix. That's all we need is three guys tackling our center (who has had kneee problems) in the locker room.
That is so funny! But I wish they'd wait until after the playoffs! I could just imagine Oden getting injured while they did that.
I think Quick's finally "gotten it" -- whether that "it" is better access, trust, a resolution to the chips on his shoulder, a breakup letter from Damon... I don't know what "it" is for him, but his work is so much better now than it was even two weeks ago. Maybe because he's actually placing himself in the story as an entity, rather than as some editorial tone, it makes the entire article more honest. I find myself looking forward to these articles, where I dreaded his recaps a couple weeks ago. They give me insight into the only part of the game day I didn't see or hear for myself: in the locker room, before and after the interviews.
yeah, I'll agree that Quick has never been so good. It's nice to see flashes of diesel like superhuman strength in Oden. I wonder if he could bench the trainers like Shaq does.
Quick has the easiest job on earth! There is nothing negative to report. He just writes down what he sees. Oh how things have changed!
I think this has a lot of truth to it. However Quick went through some times that weren't very fun over there as well.
Been working games down there for 9 years, but have been traveling with the team for almost 5 seasons.
Shit, You do have some good stories then. One of my favorite radio segmenta on 95.5 was when Kenny and Mike Barrett were telling some of their stories from the road. The story about the cars blocking in the bus at golden state and Stacey Augmon's phone call was ridiculous. Augmon really had connections.
