He has a history with the 76ers according to his self entry on wiki... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leon_Wood
No, I googled him and that came up, what was funny to me is that it is a self entry, never seen someone write themselves up... he must have been tired of not having his name referenced. Normally I take wiki for a grain of salt, but I am assuming this poster had his facts straight.
Sorry Rizzle, no Laker fans are allowed to comment on this topic. You guys don't know the first thing about getting reffed unevenly.. Leon Wood choked on his whistle last night, and Javie had to give him the Heimlich to get it out..
I watched the full game last night on NBATV...Mike and Mike are sooooo biased. Roy wasnt fouled late in the game when he stole the ball after his miss from point blank The ball WAS kicked outta bounds by Outlaw They said on the out of bounds play something along the lines of " You see the ball go out of bounds off the defender(not Outlaw) even though the ball should have bounced in the opposite direction"....uhhhh no When Joel got the T they called it flopping on Evans lol. "You see Evans flop, the problem is Joel extended his arm so it looks like he is pushing him"...lol, jesus get those blinders off Roy was several times last night because he didnt want to admit he just missed an easy shot...Most notably when he was bitching and the 76ers go in for an easy layup in overtime to push the lead to 5 or 6. On the other hand Oden played great except for trying his own shots (except the dunk at the end of the 4th), those were ugly, but he was great on defense and rebounding.
Thats what I love most about Oden.. his offense was ugly and he still got 13 points. imagine when he develops something that even remotely resembles a polished post game.
Yes they are. Ignore them. Maybe not, but he had his arms grabbed at least a couple of times driving the lane, and he had his hip ridden several times and there were several blatant reach-in fouls, and he didn't get any of those calls. AI got plenty of calls. Roy didn't. LaMarcus WAS fouled at the end of the game and got no call. I don't recall the kick you are talking about. I do recall two calls where possession was awarded to Philly that the refs blew. Yes, Joel probably fouled. But in no way does that move deserve a T. Additionally, Joel was called for a block on a play where he was set for a month. Should have been a charge. Leon Woods. Called fouls on one end. Called nothing on the other. Guess which way that went? Name two calls Woods made (not including crazy obvious ones) that favored the Blazers? That is why the officiating stunk. You have Javie letting most things go. Fine. If the game is going to go that way, let's play. But you had Woods calling fouls FOR Philly, and calling nothing for the Blazers, who were mauled to little effect.
Refs suck, get over it...there are several games every year where refs are biased, and every team has them.....unless your the Kings or Grizzlies
100% disagree. I remember that play very well and the replay right after it. He was in position for the charge when AI was driving to the basket (after Outlaw was burned)but OBVIOUSLY slid to the right before the moment of truth. If LA stands firm AI only hits his left shoulder and probably gets the and 1. When I first saw it I agreed with you but the replay shows what Im talking about
Blaming the refs and not realizing the reason we lost was our pathetic defense is just silly. We can't expect to win a game where the opposing team shoots above 60% for an entire half? Don't blame Wood, look at the defense and all the open shots at the rim the 76ers got.
I agree to a point. His feet were not set, but he didn't really slide underneath him either. He was taking little pitter/patter steps back and left and still took the contact directly in his chest. This is very similar to what Derek Fisher does. Slides with small steps to the area where the offensive player is going to be, take the contact in the middle of his body (while still moving), and draws the charge. I see no difference.
That's not the play he's referencing. He's talking about the play in overtime when the Blazers were down by one and Aldridge was clearly raped across the arm. The replay showed something that could never be considered anything other than a foul. It wasn't a matter opinion unless that opinion is from a blind man. The charge that wasn't called on AI was just one of two that should've been called on him throughout the game. The first call that went against the Blazers was when AI ran into a set Pryzbilla and he was wildly out of control. The last one was on Aldridge which is the one you referenced. You didn't see Aldridge's feet move because they didn't. His body leaned in the direction AI was going in order to better absorb the contact, though, like I said his feet were set. I believe the call was a tossup because Aldridge leaned his body, but AI was clearly not in control, so it was nothing more than a bailout. We also got effed on Oden's 2nd foul where he was called for a blocking foul when again, his feet were set. The officiating in the game was lousy considering it was a home game for Portland. It's wise to expect bad calls because it]s the NBA, but the officiating was far too one-sided which is a problem, especially when the away team is the beneficiary.
Please find the replay angle from the cameraman at the other end of the court... Im sorry but you are blatantly wrong. It was the first thing I looked at when watching the replay and it was as obvious as obvious can be Edit: rereading my previous post I made a mistake...I meant AI would have hit LA's RIGHT shoulder if he stood put
You are right. LaMarcus was in position. Then - at the last moment he slid to the side, when AI was going to possibly avoid the charge and lay it in. Doh! I am talking about when LaMarcus was fouled - obviously and hard - on a layup. It was one of those not hidden "no layup" earn it at the stripe fouls. The one where McMillan went apeshit over the no-call.
