The UN wants to pass a binding resolution for it's member countries to pass laws that would make it a criminal act to criticize Islam. What shoddy reporting. The resolution is bull shit, yes, but the language of the UN resolution is about defamation of "religions". There is no specific language giving Islam its own protected status. I see no reason for cnn and whoever else may be reporting this to attach the name of Islam to it exclusively unless their goal is to distort the truth and rile people up. They could have used any religion. But then people might not post threads like, "Go to prisong for criticizing druidism" or Christiantity.... and etc... So yes, Terrible resolution, which the US witll not allow, but also terrible reporting, which rivals the original resolution in its idiocy.
I don't agree that it's shoddy reporting. The proposal was put forward by the Organization of Islamic Conference states, so can you guess which religion it's meant to protect? Islam is actually the only religion specifically cited in the resolution. These nations already persecute other religions, and punish any who speak out against Islam. This resolution is based on the Cairo Declaration, which states, "that all rights are subject to Shariah law, and makes Shariah law the only source of reference for human rights." Even Leonard Leo of the US State Department stated, "This resolution is incomplete inasmuch as it fails to address the situation of all religions. "We believe that such inclusive language would have furthered the objective of promoting religious freedom " Honestly, how much did you investigate this proposal? Did you just assume by the title that it was meant for all religions? Kinda like George W Bushes' "Clear Skies Act" was meant to protect the environment.

The point was, that they wanted this to pass as a BINDING resolution. It also shows the audacious mentality of these people who think they can enforce their religious ideas on the whole world.
It's a religion that is really the cause for all the chaos in the world. Jihad! To quote Osama Bin Laden: "Getting nuclear weapons is a religious duty."
