Oh, sweety. I am sorry. I do not really think it is very likely that the NBA will allow Paul Allen to buy the Lakers so the Blazers will be able to have a D-league team - and even if they did - you are only allowed to send there rookies or 2nd year players which Roy is not.

At least you dream big! :devilwink:

I worry more about Oden leaving. He's mention how it's tough to be in a one team town or something like that. I wouldn't be surprise if he'd take less money to play somewhere else. Sure hope not though.

Roy on the other hand likes the NW so I think he'll stay.

the good thing about Oden is that Portland seems to be a good fit right now....

In LA...there's Bynum so they don't need Oden.

NY Knicks will blow their money on LeBronze and Bosh or Wade......

Hmmm, maybe he'd like to go to the Cavs.

Shaq only missed the playoffs his rookie year. They missed it by the tiebreaker with Indiana and ended up in the lotto where they again got the #1 pick and picked Chris Webber.

It's no secret that Roy likes the Lakers. In the Rose Garden's programs last season, Roy's favorite players were listed as Kobe and Shaq. I have no problem with that. I'm glad he likes winners.

I don't see Oden in a rush to leave. He's felt pressure because he's not just the #1 pick but was billed as an extraordinary #1 pick, a franchise player, and his injuries have prevented him living up to that. In a one sport town, of course there is much more attention focused on him than there would be in a multi-sport town - at least, theoretically. (Because I also keep reading how hard it is, how it takes a special athlete, to thrive in New York; how many teams do they have?)

But remember all the pre-draft interviews and comparisons. How Oden was billed to be a "caretaker". He's more comfortable in smaller cities. He's a bit hokey. He's loyal. Because the Blazers are also the team that stood by him and despite a few haters most true fans did as well. His teammates did.

I think by the time his rookie contract is up for renewal, the Blazers will be serious championship contenders with Oden a big part of that, and Paul Allen ready to open his checkbook and the city adoring Oden. What's not to love?

Unless he really tells the management not to match an offer and that he hates portland and doesn't want to come back (i don't see him doing that) It would be awfully hard for Greg to leave even if he kinda wants to.

We'd negotiate his extension early, and if that didn't happen we'd still have his bird rights and he'd only be a RFA where we'd just match any offer he got and he'd be back, no?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I don't think we have too much to worry about unless Gregory was hell-bent on getting out of here (which I don't think he is as most other cities he would be under MORE pressure with the city and probably less talented teammates to take the pressure off of him as he isn't a leader really which is perfect for thsi team as we already have our 2 leaders in Roy and LMA). I don't see a better situation for Greg except maybe playing with Chris Paul where he would easily be an 18 and 10 player, imo... simple solution to that though... get Chris Paul!!! Sergio, Bayless, Webster, Frye and our 1st for CP3! DEAL!?!?!?!
