I don't think Quick should fight it, I just don't think he should write about it.

I wonder how many kids are dicussing Frye's 36 hour penis erection today?

Quick should forget about his burping and farting scoops, but really, that's what happens in a locker room.

That said, Martell's words made me think of how he will react next season when Batum beats him out as the starter (if Webster's still around). By all accounts, he's a very vocal guy and a "veteran", so it does make me wonder if he may potentially start to poison what seems to be a very relaxed team. It wouldn't be intentional, but sitting when one thinks they deserve to start can bring out the negative side in a player. As it is now, I imagine there isn't a single bench player, with the possible exception of Rudy, who deep down believes they should be starting, and the only way Rudy starts is to sacrifice length at the SF position, because Roy isn't going to sit behind Rudy.

Add in a Webster, who was handed a starting job and never really showed he earned it, yet is used to being a starter, and I can see a few drops of vinegar being added to the plate full of olive oil that the team seems to be now.

My gut tells me that Webster gets dealt in the off-season anyway, so hopefully the point will be moot by September. But you do bring up a valid (hopefully minor) concern.

I really think we need to see him with this team before we deal him. He has some value with this team. even if it ends up being a Kopono like role (although I think the role will be more)

That basically is what happened with Jarret Jack. Nate gave him a starting job for lack of better options, and it seemed pretty clear to me that he was never going to be happy going back to a bench role player. We traded him for a pick (who was an upgrade and also much more likely to put up with his role for a few years.) So it's not without precedent.

Anyway, whenever I see Jack, Webster or Chris Paul, I die a little on the inside at what could have been. Even with the wealth of talent we now have. So I wouldn't be sad to see him go for a similar Bayless-type of acquisition.

My Webster Homerism knows no bounds, and I think that just about everyone will be very surprised when he gets on the floor.

If you thought Travis was a good deal contract (as I do), Webs' is even better, b/c it locks him up for less than MLE well into his prime.

I don't see him being traded until well after he proves he's not a help to this team, and has stagnated on his growth curve. I haven't seen any of that yet.

I've noticed that on this board. I bet there are men who would be fine in a one on one conversation, but get them in a testosterone gang and they all have to prove they hate the WNBA, Violet Palmer, and gays.

No, he'd be the first. How many pick up games have any NBA players in them?

    BTW, who is last?

Not only that, I think he'd be very hard to move simply because he's missed a whole year with a foot injury; team's are going to need more than a physical to trade anything of value for him (unless he's just a throw-in).

I know this will sound wierd to you, but a testosterone fest can actually be fun and a therputic in a way. To be able to go to a forum and post and bond and not have to worry about being politcally correct . . . basically saying things without always having to check yourself . . . to me, is not so bad and I find those posters fine both in one on one conversations and in a testosterone gang.

Webster has a nice contract that will allow Portland to send someone that seems like he has some kind of a value for a more expensive player thanks to being under the cap. It is not going to be a huge value by himself - but as a potential guy and salary shedding mechanism - he fits the bill (Not that I have any clue what is going to happen as far as trades are concerned - but I am pretty certain Nic is our SF of the future and Travis's clutch mind-set and closeness with Roy make him pretty likely to stay put - making Webster the odd-man out.

You've identified my problem. I never check myself before I say (or write) things. I probably should; it would make me less abrasive.

Yeah, but if a brillo pad loses its abrasiveness, the only thing left is poor-smelling useless fuzz that can't function for what it was created to do.

Now that you mention it, :dunno:

I'm sure there are men everywhere who would fit your criteria outside of those who post on this board. I'm guessing there are also some women in the world who hate sports, male authority figures, and straight people to varying degrees.

That said, I don't really have a problem with Violet Palmer other than she, like every ref, makes bad calls from time to time. Steve Javie, on the other hand, I do hate.

I can't remember the last time I thought about the WNBA. Does Seattle still have a team? I know Portland lost theirs a while ago.

I don't think of people as being "gay" or "straight" when I know them. I think of them as a friend. If I don't know them, I could care less what their sexual orientation is, with the large exception of "pederast".

Now, I'm off again to the testosterone fest on the OT board. :)
