Probably the first player who's ever been deemed out for the season twice. I hope Martell just gets healthy in time for training camp next season. I want to see how he fits or if he fits on this squad.
At this point, he's an afterthought to most players on the roster I'm guessing in terms of winning games. Win 50+ without a guy, and how bad do you really need him?
Martell certainly upped his minutes, but his efficiency was still pretty much the same in his first two seasons as his third: PERs of 11.75, 10.02, and 11.97 respectively and very pedestrian true shooting percentages for a 3 point specialist at 53, 52 and 55% It's entirely possible Martell was ready to set the world afire this year, but if I were more of a betting man I wouldn't lay a wager against the house.
This is a big blow. He would have been a nice option off the bench. My question is: Would he be back and contributing right now if we wouldn't have rushed him back for the Boston game?

Not shocked he's shut down. The only thing shocking was that the team signed him to a contract when he wasn't close to healthy. I get that they wanted to "buy low, " but it's an awful huge risk considering his injury. I really hope the gamble works out.
Martell just told the Oregonian that he will probably play in the summer league this year. I guess to shake some rust off. But it's still a bit embarassing for a lottery pick whose been in the league 4 years and started for us nearly a whole season to be playing in summer league. He better dominate down there! I wonder who else will play? If the Blazers are really intent on working their ass off over the summer, why not send the whole team down there! We could be blowing teams out 160-45
You pretty much summed up everything I could say about the two with one additional point. I just don't believe Martell will ever be a guy you want to count on for a big shot, I don't think he has the 'head' for it.
*nod* I'd like Rubio to get some experience in US basketball during the off-season, and more than just the exhibition season for Portland.
